LA FASHION DISTRICT
by Teddy Kelly
I’m still trying to process this, but Mazatlan-born artist Teddy Kelly says he is the product of the converging influences of Disney characters seen on childhood trips to the U.S. and the immigrant-influenced culture of his hometown. Kelly grew up surfing and skateboarding and when he moved to the United States in search of further education opportunities he was fortunate enough to find a mentor and friend to help him conceptualize his ideas. An early recipient of an AIGA award while still attending San Diego City College, Kelly’s successes are evident in his two mantra: “Follow the Bliss” and “Enjoy the Ride.” Sponsored by Concá Vodka, a unique blend of sugarcane vodka from Veracruz and corn vodka from the USA, Kelly painted this colorful mural on 8th Street in the Los Angeles fashion district in late 2015, but after it was quickly tagged he returned only a few months later to restore the work. @teddykelly @concavodka
