Willow and Bambi | The Boy and His Tree

Bambi held his father’s hand as they went out into the forest. His mother had been killed a few months earlier and her ashes were used to plant a willow seedling, his mother’s favorite tree. His dad and he were going to plant the seedling out in the woods by the brook. Bambi helped to pat down the earth, and watered it with a tiny water bucket. Bambi came out to the willow everyday and told it stories. When it was big enough, he would play in it’s shade and climb the branches.
Years passed and Bambi would still go out to the willow tree. It became his get away spot. He found that the tree was a good listener and he would tell it all his stories, good and bad. Sometimes, he wished the tree could speak back. One day, he could have sworn it did. He jumped back and looked around. “Did... No.. I must have been crazy. Trees can’t talk.” He said, bewildered.
