Hi! I’d like to start converting soon (post COVID most likely). I’m a bisexual man and my fiancé is a gay trans man. He would not be interested in converting, but is supportive of me. I’ll be converting reform, but I just don’t know how to go about talking to a rabbi about all of this. Any suggestions?

I’ve been looking into conversion for abt 4 yrs but never been near a Jewish community. Next year i will be moving near a progressive community that offers conversion classes. I’ll also be at uni & I know it takes a lot of time&effort to convert so I’m wondering 1. if anyone could shed light on the ‘workload’ for want of a better term & 2. How to approach the interview to see if they’ll take u on as a student. I’m v anxious about it I feel like I don’t know enough to be convincing.. Thank you!

There’s no need to worry too much. There are a lot of people like you who are in the same situation as you. Just try to find a Catholic Church in your area and attend Mass. Don’t worry about doing anything wrong during the service no one will call you out. Just follow along with the  people when to sit and to kneel. When the time comes for people to line up and receive the Eucharist, just stay in your seat since you’re not qualified yet to receive it.
