awwww, you don't like Chugga anymore?

First off, I have to say there are things about Chugga I still admire about him. The dude is really dedicated to his craft.

He researches and brings a lot of information to the table during some of his series no matter how unnecessary they may be (such as myths and folklore during Okami and charts of each Pokémon’s stats and locations straight out of Bulbapedia)

He sure carries his weight around, based on one of the TRG stories he’s told where he and Jon spent at least half a day and hundreds of dollars cabbing around an unfamiliar city trying to find proper recording equipment and machinery because they left some of theirs at home. And they succeeded.

He made a lengthy video calling out his fanbase for tearing apart a fanart of Kumatora that one of his good friends made for his Mother 3 LP. A lot of the criticisms were downright immature, and he took the time to make sure they knew it.

And I’ve gotta give credit to any guy who specifically practices one part of a video game because he knows he needs to get better at it than the people he’s competing against. Especially button mashing, because that’s one of the most masochistic elements out there.

So I definitely like Emile's handiwork. His humor, on the other hand, kinda makes me cringe nowadays.

He always tends to overreact to everything and ham it up, and he’s so notorious for it that people have to put a Headphone Warning on any video he’s in. It’s just personal preference I guess, I know people love LPers with loud humor (case in point, PewDiePie), but I myself tend to prefer the (generally) quiet, snarky ones. No surprise I like ProtonJon the most out of TRG, even when I watched all 3 of them before the channel existed.

Chugga also tends to make poorly-timed puns, or even tries to fire out a pun every two minutes, and speaking as a Pun Knight, that’s stupid. Puns are something you need to hit people with out of left field, they need to be brilliant and inventive, and in general just be something that people aren’t expecting and will get walloped by it as a result. Everybody always expects Chugga to make a pun sometime within 5 minutes of the last one, and it’s usually something desperate that doesn’t make sense and a 10-year old could probably think of on the spot. I can feel the “humor him” tones in Jon and Tim’s reactions sometimes, because they can’t just leave him hanging in front of 350k people.

But again, it’s just my opinion. To this day, he has almost 830k subscribers that would probably like to tell me otherwise. You can’t fight with a man like that unless he makes a bunch of offensive jokes like PewDiePie does (although Chugga has made rape jokes before, as recently as Mario Party 1, but I haven’t heard any since).
