Judging from the articles above, the Biden administration did something that's more productive and ethical about the situation as compared to the Trump administration. However, the downside of Biden's decision is that operational costs are expected to rise due to labor regulations in America. The dollar is also more expensive compared to Asian currencies, so that's going to jack up the prices of the chips as well (Asian/foreign labor is cheaper due to the foreign currency gap with the dollar).

Even though their foreign policies suck, the Trump administration is desperately trying to find a solution to the semiconductor problem. Currently, they are using the Pax Silica agreement as an alternative. Basically, the whole plan of the agreement is to diversify the chip manufacturing to other countries (see signatories' pic below). Taiwan is a geopolitical problem for the US. TSMC's hub there will be a liability in the future if war breaks out between the two countries/states.

People might be wondering, why not add some Western defense to Taiwan? Unfortunately, the Americans can't do that due to the One China Policy. There are no current US military bases in Taiwan. The closest US military base to Taiwan would be the one in the Philippines.

Also the Philippines' involvement in the Pax Silica is another issue, but the main point is that if war breaks out, most, if not all, of the USA's operations will be held in the Philippines/Japan and transported to Taiwan (again, this is just speculation if there are any USA reinforcements left to be deployed due to the Iran war). Taiwan would have to bear the burden of facing the behemoth alone through arms buying from the USA or 'justified' reinforcements coming from the Philippines/other allied countries.

If some people are still wondering, why not do trade sanctions with China? Many companies in the United States rely on China for manufacturing. Adding sanctions would only be a problematic cycle that ultimately affects consumers (example: tariffs). Additionally, China can also shut down manufacturing hubs against the United States. The latter choice would cause a stale mate, as that would equally affect both hegemons economically.

What is the 'One China' policy?

The BBC explains the "One China"' policy, a hugely sensitive diplomatic tightrope.

I do not wish to instill fear with this post, but there is a significant possibility of war occurring in the future—hopefully, it remains a distant prospect, as there are already numerous pressing issues at hand. I always advocate for diplomacy, as wars are inherently detrimental to everyone involved (consider the situations in Iran, Ukraine, and Israel/Palestine).

I understand that mining minerals for semiconductor chips is generally bad for the environment, and Thiel had a point when he said that the Antichrist supports the environment. I'm guessing he's simply talking about the perspective of humanity being too reliant with technology to function. Still, that doesn't take away the fact that our civilization is detrimental to the environment.

What do you think Jack will do post election loss?

I honestly don't know, I think he's probably going to lay low for a little while. I don't know how confident he really was in his ability to win so he might have thought of a backup plan or he was quite befuddled by his loss and doesn't know what to do. I think a good thing he should do is get into some real work, use his law or business degrees for something.

JFK jr should have stuck to journalism. He had done the right move by being a journalist. But the media pressured him to become a Congressman. I didn't know Junior had interviews with Rudy Giuliani, Mother Theresa, John Gotti jr, Billy Graham, Louis Farrakhan, and so on. All I know is he interviewed Princess Diana.

Speaking of Junior, I predict this will not be the last time I hear from Jack Schlossberg. He is going to pick up where Joe Kennedy Sr left off. He might get into real estate, a cargo shipping line, finance and marketing, or something else. I think the Kennedys will probably retire from politics for a long time. They are going to get into other fields. I heard RFK jr's sons are doing the same thing.

Yup, I do feel like Americans are getting more sick of Political Dynasties & Nepotism and are also opting for populism, and that stuff does not stick well for the Kennedys, maybe in the future we’ll see some Kennedys run again though, probably from the RFK line
