I like to think about venom having a spinoff similar to the "into the spider-verse". like instead of all the symbiotes have being placed in many different comics (apparently there are 40 or something), we place them in one series with some new faces.

Having one attached to an engineer and is just happy hanging out. Having conversations about schematics, new advancements and such. We would have to create different sized oven mittens so they can hold hot things like a soldering iron or help investigate a hot dc motor.

With my luck I would end up with a super outgoing one that is just in a constant state of pranking around my house and labs. Cranking up voltages when I'm not looking. Unplugging my soldering iron when focusing on a surface mounted component. Adding to a silk-screen on a circuit design that spells its name... drinking all coffee making it hard to sit still.

How many engineers does it take to screw in a light bulb?

No idea, we are still in meetings on what type of light bulb to install to provide the optimal lumens per the room space...

Off-delay 555 circuit (negative trigger)

I needed a way to have a relay “ride” through a starting sequence on a vehicle. Annoyingly there was no steady ignition sources so it was to the market on off-delay timers so the circuit can ride through the start while still turning off when the circuit is truly off. There is one constant source and a source that goes negative during starting.

With the vehicle off the circuit is as above. The 555 is timed out, the seal in and timer mosfet is off and the trigger mosfet is sealed.

Cool level: falls asleep to documentaries on youtube

Aka: not cool at all, for those of you keeping score...

No idea what equipment it was made for but, it’s a small single phase air pump. I’m guessing it’s for blowing sawdust off the working area on small woodworking equipment.

This is an old at&t phone with a twisted non shield pair land line connection. This phone was found in an old house about to go for sale, still wired out to the old phone box outside. I cut the phone cord because it was so hard it basically snapped in half. The speaker and microphone still operate I did a basic test on them. The rotary dial is super rusty inside so it’s electrical signal is not so good.

Phone like this used all mechanical parts meaning people had to be able to service them. So, the whole phone was designed to come apart by hand and a flat head screwdriver. I wasn’t sure on the ringer voltage to I started low and cranked till it sounded right and well it can wake the dead.

Switches

Electrical switches are used all over the world for the transfer of potential across their contacts. This action is considered a step function, in simulation it’s sometimes an if statement. If switch open than potential is equal to zero otherwise (closed) potential is equal to upstream calculated source. Advancing the simulation we would then use straight ohms law with preset parameters including if switch bounce is represented.

Reading switch acronyms has two parts the pole and the movement or throw. Part one is seen as the number of “poles”, in this term it’s talking about the common connection point. This can be the user’s choice for source negative, positive or other. This pole then leads to the second part as how does the pole or poles move to make the connections (number of connections per pole) this term is “throw”. A single switch can move several poles. Putting the two terms together we get the conjunction of typical switch acronyms XPYT where X is the number of poles and Y is the number of throws. One is represented as single or “S” and two is double or “D” greater than two is shown as its number.

Indoor work bench

I ended up scratching up my nice dinner table so, going through some scraps laying around built this. The tops are bits from counter top and the legs are 2x4’s. Of course I didn’t use ACAD for seeing if I had enough 2x4’s as that would be crazy.

After not using ACAD for a simple bench that was designed on paper only. I cut all the pieces and sanded them to remove the mill marks.

Assembling the parts the top is connected with some adjustable metal brackets and the base has soft rubber feet.

Now I can do projects in peace knowing I’m not going to damage nice furniture. I’ll probably put a removable vice and solder station. The top rack is sized for my two computer monitors.
