All the things that you detest in me/They keep you coming back for more you see
We make each other a bit crazy/But you’ll always be a part of me
I am loving Dark Road so far.

Songs of 2019
April 7, 2019
I promised you another day of 80s revival music. Another day of talking about the fantastic soundtrack for To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I will not disappoint you, Lara Jean Covey, or Peter Kavinsky by rollimg back on that promise. I don't have it in me.
So, without further ado, the closing song of the best Netflix original of all time:
Cool Out by Matthew E. White and Natalie Prass
Y'all. That distinctive, funky sound. The synth vibes. The quirky instrumentation. The breathy vocals. I can't.
It's like the universes recognizes that I wasn't able to appreciate 80s music while it was actually happening, so it decided to give me a gift. So many gifts. I mean, it's the song that overlays this scene:
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ANYTHING BUT LOVE EVERY SECOND?
It captures the tone of an 80s teen movie about high school and romance so effortlessly. It makes you want to smile and giggle and fall in love and be young and free. It is the perfect closing song for a movie that takes your heart on a journey--and also leaves you wanting more. It gives you the distinct impression that there is more. It feels more like a beginning than an ending--and that is one of my favorite things about stories; when the end doesn't really feel like the final page.
Though, this song does sound exactly like how I felt when I finished the last page of TATBILB right after it came out. That, and, of course, my beloved decade of unique pop and rock that changed the world.
Music comes back around the same way that fashion does--it never really goes out of style. And just when you think it's about to, it becomes popular again. A new generation hears it, picks it up, and embraces it without question. It's part of the cyclical progression of art, and I am so excited to be alive in a time where I can see the direct reflection of the past in the present.
If 80s music is your thing, or even something you just enjoy, 80s revival music might be something you enjoy exploring. It combines the greatness of the old with the awesomeness of the new--and will leave you wondering what style of music will come back around next.
I honestly don't like being spammed on here.

I live my life in black and white. I know that’s not what you would like. But that’s all I know. I put my mind in cruise control.
