brave this storm || cooper & belle
Isabelle woke up to distant rumble, when she looked out the window she immediately decided to leave her high heels behind and wear more comfortable shoes. It looked like they might have some rain coming their way, she could not risk slipping on the wet roads. By the time she left home it was already drizzling, when she got to the shop they had some steady rain falling. Rain that prompted some citizens to wander into the store and look for shelter, something that really got on Harrison’s nerves. When he had enough he decided to close early, giving Belle more than half a day off. She wondered what she should do, certainly go back home, a voice told her, maybe pick up some books. And so she headed to Books for All.
It was at the bookstore that she remembered she had promised Tanner she would attempt to make some homemade berry frosting, he had promised to eat the cupcakes no matter how they looked. Isabelle was determine to spend the day baking, what else was there to do in the rain. Except it wasn’t raining anymore, how long was I in there? she asked herself. The skies were clearer than ever, the day was beautiful. But she knew that Harrison was not going to reopen, and he had practically shoved her out the door, she didn’t like to take days off, and he took advantage of every opportunity to give her some ‘well deserved time off’, as he often put it, he wasn’t going to be happy is she came back. “Well baking it is...” she whispered to herself.
Halfway home Belle realized she had no fresh berries. And the farmer would not be in town for a couple of days, her father had become a fan of his berries and Belle was sure to always buy some when the farmer was in town. But if she was to try that new recipe she was going to have to get some fresh berries. She remembered hearing the location of the farm from a conversation long forgotten, she was sure that if she tried she could locate it easily, she figured he wouldn’t mind her coming to buy some berries, it would be like Harrison minding when people visit the shop... ohhh, she thought. She could always just go home to her books, but looking up at the clear sky she set out to find the farm, it was just then that a thunder sounded in the distance, Belle was too distracted to notice.
She walked for a while before spotting the farm, it was surrounded by a fence and berry bushes, a lot of berry bushes, it was truly a beautiful place. Isabelle knocked on the door and explained her situation, the farmed handed her a basket and told her to know again after she was done. She could not believe he was actually going to let her go around the farm and pick the berries, this was going bette than she had expected, even the light rain that had started to fall when she was making her way there could’ve dampen her mood. She was going to make the best cupcakes ever. The little basket in her arms was full of berries to the brim, just as she made her way to the house to pay for the berries the unthinkable happened. A storm hit Everafter. Hit was the proper way for what was happening, it had come out of nowhere, the soft droplets of rain suddenly felt like buckets of cold water pouring over her. The wind was like nothing she had felt before. The basket flew from her hands, she failed to catch it, it was a big mess, rain, and wind, and berries.
