I don’t know what to do with my youtube channel anymore... like.. I make speed paints 

and most of them i guess could be classified as “kid friendly” 

but then a lot of them aren’t cause  i do a lot of wilford etc. 

and i dont know if I can get into trouble with the new rules now...

i got a new computer and stuff for the whole purpose of doing speed paints but now its like...

Anyway, please watch this. YouTubers and watchers alike panicking and ranting about COPPA is understandable considering how big of a change and responsibility it seems like, but what we need right now is to look at actual bits of the COPPA rules presented in a clear, serious, understandable way and to hear enough of said information in one place, not just the disconnected bits.

I recommend this video, even if it’s long. And please reblog if after watching you agree that this seems like a good way to spread information about COPPA

Sign the Change.org petition about changing the COPPA ruling that is going to seriously affect content creators on YouTube.

YouTube viewers and creators petition the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to clarify and reconsider the new Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA Rule) regulations on YouTube creators. Shutting off personalized ads on creators’ content will cause more harm than good, especially for children. Quality family-friendly content will shrink, while more mature content will grow — yet kids will still be watching.

So about the COPPA thing on YouTube

FTC, Don't. Okay. Just, stop. Y'all are doing more harm than good by doing this and punishing innocent content creators on YouTube. If parents stick their kids in front of an iPad instead of actually parenting them, it's not the government's job to parent them instead. Also, I don't think y'all understand YouTube enough to know your "made for kids" guidelines cover about 80% of videos unnecessarily. And the non-targetted ads will cut 60-90% of content creators revenue, causing many YouTubers to most likely lose their jobs. In fact a few YouTubers already stepped back from their channel because of the fear that if the step down later they'll be unemployed.

I know this a long post and no one will probably read this, but I felt the need to say something, because this could be catastrophic to many innocent people.
