Imagine giving Corbeau a Clodsire from Paldea for your anniversary or something and him looking at you as you lovingly explain that it's a poison/ground type so you figured you would get him one
But then you're like "I know he's a little cute for the whole mafia boss aesthetic, but I've already planned accordingly" and Corbeau watches as you tape angry eyebrows onto the Clodsire before looking back at him excitedly and the only thing he can manage to say after a long pause is "I'm going to marry you"
I need more yearning Corbeau. I know this is NOT a hot take but after watching Great Gatsby off broadway I can’t help but think “Only Tea” is the perfect embodiment of his nervous energy. Corbeau is calm and controlled in every situation except you. He’s so used to being able to manipulate people, but his vulnerability around you unsettles him and makes him unusually anxious. Instead of his mood just getting better when he hangs out with you, I need anxiety in the beginning. Comfortable happiness after two dates is perfectly fine, but I feel like we gloss over his overthinking.

I've always tried to think of how he even began something like that?
I like to think of Beau as a pretty logical guy and wouldn't really do anything all that risky purely for fun at first.
I mean sure, super rich people do substances all the time, but here's my take on it :
He would share food with his Venipede when he was little, so he'd ingest a little poison between each shared bite and just started building a tolerance for it.
He'd rather be in a bit of pain than to let his partner go hungry, and maybe he started getting kinda into it, like just feeling a little numb for a while.
OK so I have a really funny head cannon about Corbeau and the Trainer and their pokemon:
You know that mega Absol you save from rouge mega evolution, ya, let's assume that's trainers main pokemon, right. (Replace Absol with any poke of your choosing if you feel) Now Absol accompanies Trainer everywhere, including when they visit Corbeau. Absol tolerates Corbeau, sure. Its a little weary of people though. But Corbeau's dear, spoiled, princess (Scolipede), is super social. Like rubbing all up on Corbeau and Trainer, begs at the table because, as much as Corbeau denies it, he slips Scolipede table scraps. The average hang out/date night for Trainer and Corbeau is usually something low key, just the two of them and their Pokemon. Since they see each other so often, Scolipede keeps trying to make friends with Absol. But Absol wants absolutely NOTHING to do with the bug. And Scolipede, absolutely CRUSHED. Scolipede tries to rub against Absol, gets nipped at. Tries to bring Absol a toy, they bat it away. Scolipede lays a little too close to Trainer and gets a few more head pats, Absol growls and lays across Trainer's lap instead. And without fail, Scolipede tucks tail back to Corbeau and whines pitifully until her grouch faced trainer gives in with a few treats and whispered coos.
Just Corbeau and Trainer in absolute bliss while Trainer's poke bullies Scolipede relentlessly.

SO… Corbeau has a ridiculously hard time on the streets of Lumiose not just because of his past, but because every Trubbish or Garbodor that approaches him, he **has** to take back to the syndicate with him. He takes care of them until he finds the perfect person/home for that Trubbish… and when he does, he will **make sure** that the person takes the Pokemon, if they can’t because of money or space issues, he’ll literally pay for supplies and MAKE THE SPACE **for them**. Eventually, he had so many Trubbish and Garbodor in the Syndicate that tourists started calling the Rust Syndicate the “Trash Syndicate” and the city of Lumiose tried to intervene but ultimately came to an agreement to do an “adoption day” where people from all over came to Lumiose to participate in and 99.999% of the lil trash bags got adopted. The 0.001% that didn’t was his Trubbish (now Garbodor) (that purposely scared people away just so he could stay with Corbeau)
The entire experience made Corbeau feel such a genuine happiness that he plans to open a refuge for less desirable Pokemon as soon as he no longer has to maintain the “rust syndicate boss” image. In the meantime, he just arranges the yearly “Adopt-a-Trubbish” day and sees to it that Lumiose’s Trubbish/Garbodor population remains balanced. 🗿

i imagine corbeau, his apartment, and his office smell kinda incense-y but sweeter - i describe it in the fic as dark, smoky, woody, sweet, etc. the irl scent i use as reference is bulletproof by tokyomilk dark, not too feminine but also not distinctly masculine
corbeau's pokemon are definitely spoiled rotten. he absolutely gives them his food when they beg and buys them random new treats and toys. he's probably tried to put a pet outfit on scolipede at some point
speaking of scolipede, it is definitely bigger than corbeau but thinks it's still a lap pet
to me corbeau and harmony are both about the same height, like 5'6" or 5'7" (167-170cm)? which i feel like is at the upper end of the "short king" range for corbeau but also i have this deep conviction that harmony is an above-average height woman and i want them to match
harmony's crobat was her first pokemon and it's been with her all her life, and he was an absolute taskmaster when she was training her kalos team. now he competes with them for her affection. but joke's on them, he's nocturnal and he gets to hang out with her at night while they're sleepy
corbeau does not do well in the heat while harmony does not do well with the cold
corbeau used to smoke basically daily but his roserade HATES the smell of cig smoke and once she evolved from a roselia she finally had enough and was big enough to really threaten corbeau. so now he just smokes occasionally
harmony has small sticker-style tattoos representing her team and she is itching to get more tattoos (aren't we all)
naveen and lida will always be a little scared of corbeau but korrina couldn't give less of a damn about his reputation

Corbeau’s glasses look like they’re for fashion and the frames definitely are but the lenses are 100% necessary and if he’s not wearing them he does like the scariest Blind Scrunch you’ve ever seen.
Like he’s already got kind of a scary face when he’s focused but when he’s having to focus twice as hard just to read or see what’s happening clearly from the other side of the room, he’s got a face like a thunderstorm and it freaks out the lower ranks real bad—
Let me be wierd about this. It's one am and I've spent the past hour in Reddit. Kitakami siblings and Corbeau possible relationship by the way, the difference is that unlike Reddit I'm using my brain.
So. Alot of people have noticed and pointed out the similarities between Kieran Carmine and Corbeau. There's people claiming he's their dad since the first trailer.
Reasons why that can't be true:
First of all Corbeau is not old enough. Until just a bit before Lysandre turned crazy he was his charge meaning he's at most 30 and Carmine is 16. Which makes it pretty much doubtful to happen.
Second. Why would an abandoned child, that only knew loneliness until he was taken in abandon not one but two of his children.
Third. This is following the plant name based theory. Yes Corbeau's name in Japanese can be a plant from the same family as Kieran's Carmine's and their grandpa's names but knowing Kieran's grandpa. Does he look like the kind of guy to abandon his son and then take in his kids? Why would Kieran and Carmine be raised by their grandparents then?
Now. Someone made the mistake of pointing out this picture:
That's just lazy. His glasses are an obvious reference to poison types. Not a bird that had the poison type added because a peach possessed it. His tie looks more like a reference to spikes or thorns like Scolipede's or Roserade's not the bland smooth white neck of a bird. And last but not least. Weren't we pointing out his relationship with Kitakami through the colors? There's something even more obvious there. It's a black jacket with orange and purple on the inside. Like the Kitakami siblings' hair?
Other people commented that related characters in Pokemon are much more similar. Let me put their example: Perrin and Adamant. Yeah pretty similar. BECAUSE THEY WANTED YOU TO NOTICE. Now why they're wrong: Silver and Giovanni. What exactly is their similitude? Penny and Peony. Penny doesn't even look like her sister. Plus parents and kids are not 100% alike but that's not the point since I don't believe he's their father.
Similitudes between Corbeau and the sibblings or more precisely with Kieran:
The most obvious one is their eyes. But it's not just the color. It's the way they shift slightly before a battle. How the light expresses their emotions. When battling Carmine her eyes loose that highlight for a second but Kieran lost it for a long time. He lost it when he was mad at us and didn't get it back until Area Zero when he battled with us against Terapargos. Until that moment he was practically a beast that wouldn't stop for nothing to get his goal.
To continue there's the similitude on the hair. It's true that Corbeau has two different tones of purple and not black and purple but if you mix the orange from Carmine's hair and the purple from Kieran's..... Depending on the cuantity... Shouldn't you get a mutted purple? (I'm still learning about colors. Don't be too mean)
We already pointed out his jacket.
Now the nervous habit. Have you ever seen a nervous bunny? That's Kieran with his arm and his foot. He moves his arm and his foot when he's nervous. I don't have footage but I remember it called my attention when I played. Now. Today while playing the DLC Megadimension. I saw Corbeau with a nervous habit that reminded me a lot of Kieran's. A lot of people tap their foot and stuff but Kieran and Corbeau both tap their right foot and move their left arm. Kieran does small taps and Corbeau swings it a bit but it's the same habit different form.
Both of them are very persistent and decided on how the main character should see them. Corbeau wants to be seen in a negative form and Kieran was really into being seen as a friend again.
So this takes me to my personal theory:
Corbeau is their older brother. The timelines make sense. He's only a few years older but they go from 5 years older to 10 meaning that if their parents abandoned Kieran and Carmine after the youngest' birth Corbeau should have been around 7 years old. A 7 year old is much more manageable than a toddler. It's a wierd desition to make but I've seen weirder reasons to do weirder stuff. Maybe they realized that a 7 year old still had needs and they were around Lumiose at the time so they just abandoned their eldest there. And so years later Corbeau is now an adult with lots of resources just because Lysandre raised him. Lysandre a descendant of a noble man. Dude is loaded and has connections. So he decides to search for his family. Because he vaguely remembers two babies being left behind. That's when he finds out about his siblings. Who are now preteens. He decides that since now he has the resources he will provide for them and try to get to know them. Because they were all abandoned by the same people. The grandparents still have some sense of responsibility towards Corbeau and tell him they're doing fine but he insists and they end up letting him pay for his little siblings' education. That's how they end up in Blueberry Academy in the middle of the Unovan sea with permanent residence and individual rooms. He's still in contact with them and knows something was up with Kieran during those months of the SV events even of he may not know what. But he knows everything's fine once he sees the light back in his little brother's eyes because he hadn't seen his own light for years until he met them.
Anywho. This is just my opinion that I didn't post on Reddit did to me not having an account. This post is so long though. I doubt anyone will read it. If you did thank you. :)
