Random Drabble #001:
When they arrived, they found it more breathtaking than she had been told. The oasis indeed had been well-hidden among the wind worn spires and ravines of the desert; but the soft bubbling of water rising from beneath the stone, feeding the pool lent the otherwise quiet of the desert a pleasant atmosphere.
The pool itself was perhaps only forty feet across, and not too deep at its deepest point for one to see the well rounded stones through the mirror surface - and sprawled all about a variety of old palms that lent the pool a shade. All in all, it could have been paradise, outside of the somewhat bothersome presence of a handful of roughly man-sized crocodiles basking on the far side.
Lorelei felt more than saw the impact of her second party arrive; the dust kicked up only momentarily as leathered wings tucked themselves against an equally large frame. The dragon took none of the time she did in admiring the scenery and, instead, immediately honed in on the largest swath of unbroken sunlight that fell to the oasis from the rising rocks surrounding.
For her part, Lorelei stifled a laugh; musing internally how, sprawled out unceremoniously as he just did, he appeared not so much a Dragon as more like a larger version of the crocodiles that dotted the sun dappled shore. But of course such a thought would never be spoken. Not so much out of ideas of personal safety more so than not wanting to ruin their outing with his childishly wounded pride insisting to her time and again just exactly why everything she said was wrong.
