Corin Firetail {Birthday Drabble}
Corin was sounds asleep when his sister came running into his room. She jumped on him, and woke him up. He was a little confused when he opened his eyes and saw his sister, he started smiling.
His sister giggled. Then she pulled out a small, wrapped package. "Happy Birthday, Corin." she said as she handed it to him.
He smiled and shook his head. "You didn't have too."
"I know, but I wanted too."
He chuckled. "Thanks, Sis."
She smiled and kissed his cheek. "Open it."
Corin slowly ripped the wrapping paper off. He opened the box and his eyes went wide. Inside the box was a leather bond notebook and a blue crystal pen. He was speechless.
"She smiled. "I figured you could use this to write whatever you wanted. Thoughts, feelings, stories, and whatever. It's also a great way to stay calm. And I know you don't like to talk about it, but..."
He smiled and shook his head. "No, Lunaria. It's fine. This is a great present."
She smiled and bounced where she sat. "Yay!"
He laughed and set his present aside. "Alright, you. Out so I can get dressed."
Lunaria laughed and bolted out of his room. Corin sighed and shook his head again. He climbed out of his bed and closed the door. He glanced at the gift on his bed with a chuckle. She also knew just what to do to help him out. Corin shook his head and headed for his bathroom to get himself cleaned up. He had a quick shower before he got dressed. Corin walked down the stairs and into the kitchen, where he was greeted by his mother, his step-father, and Lunaria. He said "good morning" to them and joined them at the table. His parents talked about what they wear going to do for his birthday. Corin had mentioned he didn't want to do anything too fancy for his birthday. After some of his other birthdays, he preferred to stay at home. But, he couldn't stay in the house forever. So, he agreed to the birthday dinner. He hung around the house most of the day, avoiding spending time outside or being noticed by the other kids. And when evening came, he was ready to head out. Corin and his family sat in a corner booth and had a quiet dinner away from the others. A few hours later they arrived home. Lunaria gave him a hug before heading to her room. He smiled at her and wished her a good night, before entering his room. On his bed, was the present his sister gave him and two other wrapped packages. His parents must have left them there before they left. He grabbed the packages and set them all on his desk. He unwrap the other two in the morning. Corin got changed and then he crawled into bed. He sat there for a moment before turned out the light and fell asleep.
