Cosmic Cal part 2!

In June of this year, I decided to undertake my biggest and most challenging crochet project to date. It was the Cosmic Crochet-A-Long by Helen Shrimpton. 96 rounds, well over 1000 metres of yarn, some complicated stitches and some created specifically for this blanket. 

I finished it in September, and one of the ladies I work with took photos to show on our shop website as all the yarn came from my work. She uploaded the photos today.

And I’m uploading them here because I’m genuinely very proud of myself for completing this blanket. It was a labour of love and really challenged me. It also may have messed up my shoulder for the rest of my life, but I have a pretty blanket out of it. :D

WIP’s

I saw a post going round about finishing off WIP’s in 2019, and while I know it was more than likely about writing, it made me think about my crochet and other bits. Because yeah, I have a couple of WIP’s that I really, really should finish. And if I post about them, it might encourage me to get off my butt (errrrr..... off my computer chair and over to the couch?) and actually finish them this year!

I have these two, which are the Cosmic CAL by Helen Shrimpton

It’s a 9 part pattern, and the purple/yellow is a row and a quarter from finishing part 5, while the rainbow is only done up to part 3 (because I didn’t have enough of the next green, so I started the purple one while I waited for it in the post, and then I never got back to it XD)

The dragon needs ears and horns... (and then I need to find somewhere in the flat for him to live, because apparently I didn’t notice I swapped from Aran to DK halfway through making him, so he’s a bit holey and thus I don’t think he’s quite good enough to give away)

This is going to be Sephiroth. Eventually. I only started him about 2, maybe 3 years ago for hubby >__<;;;;

He needs his coat, and boots. And possibly the black strappy things. And his sword. And eyes would help but I hate doing eyes because I don’t like being watched when I stab them with needles <___<;;;;;

And then there’s this. I wanted to try and make my dragons in tunisian crochet, to try and cut down on the holes, and it worked! I got the shaping down and it worked! But... I want to cut down on how much overlap there is with the legs attaching because ideally I want to have an armature so they can be posed to a degree and I got stuck and gave up. So I need to go back to it and see what I can do. Because he’s a cutie. Or, will be a cutie, one day

And then there’s my cacti. Which I really want to finish because I really, really, REALLY want to get started on this dragon sculpture by Oxygami on Etsy I got for Christmas in 2017 and have a dragon watching over my computer

And of course I’ve got the story I started trying to write for NaNo, which has somehow morphed in to at least three separate but interlinked stories that I’m still trying to get the basics down for so I will maybe be ready to try again this November because all that worldbuilding I did? Yeah, it didn’t work for the story I wanted to do, so it’s become part of the backstory. Which is a story in and of itself but different and just yeah... TT_____TT
