I drew this piece back in 2024 when I went to Walt Disney World for the first time with my friend. I was excited to experience WDW and as a Disneyland person myself and fan of theme park history. The Disney park I been to the most is Disneyland because that one is the closest to me. When Cosmic Rewind open, there was a type of preshow type thing while you wait in line and Peter Quill was so excited about going to Epcot. The whole lore is that Peter has been to Epcot before he got taken away, and he was mentioning these attractions that are Epcot classics. I thought this thing was a funny and I sometimes quote it because why not.
Club Penguin: EPF? In the Cosmic Rewind Queue? In the Year of our Starlord, 2026?
Can we just talk about how Gamora looks at Peter as he reminisces about when he went to Epcot as a kid????

The week after next, I’m going to Disney World!!! I’m scared of roller coasters but I kinda want to be brave and try out the Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind ride in Epcot because people say it’s really cool. Idk we’ll see

I didn’t get to see this myself at the park, but I did get to see the ¡celebración encanto! show at epcot in june of this year and the music was amazing

It just occurred to me the weird implications of Disney making Star Lord canonically a fan of Horizons. Like they obviously picked it just because it's a prominent defunct ride to make the joke about "oh haha he's hyped for the ride we removed." But... the guy lives on a spaceship with five alien roommates and is constantly interacting with advanced technology and diverse biomes.
Was he inspired by the ride as a child, and that's why he adapted so well to his eventual life? Did he want to ride it again because he wanted to compare how much it "got wrong" about living in space in the future?
Or maybe he just likes retrofuturistic aesthetic? Like, I'd still be curious to see the original House of the Future despite living in a place with a flat screen TV, a microwave, and way too much plastic around...
Yesterday I went to Epcot and I got on EVERYTHING EXCEPT COSMIC REWIND. I'M GENUINELY SO MAD CUZ IT WAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. Now it's the next morning and I'm talking about it like a deceased family member
