Detail of the Monument of the Discoveries in Lisbon, Portugal. It was designed in 1939 by Cottinelli Telmo with sculptures by Leopoldo de Almeida assisted by Soares Branco and António Santo. The monument was inaugurated on 9 August 1960 to mark Comemorações Henriquinas, the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Henry the Navigator.
