Pingxi is such a lonesome place at night but imagine this place bustling with people during the day...the stores open showing off their colorful lanterns to tourists who would eventually release them up the sky in the middle of the tracks. I've seen them in pictures and I thought they were a beautiful sight. But there was a different experience in store for us having arrived at almost closing time. We walked down the street and stopped by an open shop where an old man cheerfully spoke to us. @mjmandap didn't think twice of buying a 4-color lantern which I filled with wishes on love, health, success and opportunities for us and for our love ones. We didn't stand in the middle of the railroad to release our lantern. The old man was taking the video and the three of us watched in awe as our lantern went high above, lighting the pitch black sky with the sound crickets in the background. What a solemn moment it was. Pingxi at night wasn't so bad after all.
