𝐈. something that scares your muse,
honestly? don’t know if it’s expected or unexpected: hermaeus mora. like miraak would not admit that, not even to himself, but he is most definitely afraid of hermaeus mora and what he can do. miraak knows better than anyone what mora is capable of and has endured his and apocrypha’s horrors for thousands of years.
miraak may be defiant, but even a decade of what he’s been through would destroy a lesser person. his immortal soul is probably the only reason he hasn’t entirely lost it yet.
he doesn’t really actively recognize this fear though until he’s forced to confront it. unless he’s literally face to face (eyes?) with mora, he’s not going to really feel it.
he does however feel it in the alternate universes where he escapes apocrypha. that’s when it actually kicks in that he wants nothing else to do with hermaeus mora, his knowledge, his cult, anything, and he feels that way because ultimately? he is scared of mora. if he had to pick between killing himself and getting caught and dragged back to apocrypha he would not hesitate to pick the first option to say the least.
