@coziclouds whispered beneath the silver moon ; “ the way you say my name like that should be illegal. ” + “ stop looking at me like that unless you’re ready for what comes next. ”
river thought he was still in control of himself right up until lily climbed into his lap. after that, everything blurred into heat and her mouth against his. she kissed like she meant to ruin him slowly—- hands sliding up the back of his neck while his fingers dug instinctively into her waist, pulling her closer until there wasn’t space left between them anymore. every breath he took tasted like her. sweet and dangerous all at once. and god, the sounds she made into his mouth weren’t helping.
his head tipped back slightly when she kissed deeper and he swore he felt her smile against his lips when his grip tightened on her hips. she was warm everywhere his hands touched, soft beneath his palms while she settled more comfortably against him like she belonged there. like she knew exactly what she was doing to him. “lily…” her name left his mouth rougher than he intended. low enough that even he barely recognized it.
she pulled back just enough for him to see the way her expression changed at the sound of it—- eyes darker now, lips swollen from kissing him for too long already. then she leaned in again, slower this time, dragging her mouth against his until river’s chest felt painfully tight. “the way you say my name like that should be illegal,” she whispered.
he let out a quiet laugh under his breath but it died the second her fingers slid into his hair and tugged lightly. it made it impossible to think straight anymore. every time she shifted in his lap it dragged another rough breath from him and lily noticed. “stop looking at me like that unless you’re ready for what comes next,” she murmured against his mouth. river looked at her for half a second too long after that. flushed cheeks, half-lidded eyes, lips already searching for his again—- completely wrecking him without even trying. “you say that like i’d stop you,” he muttered before kissing her again and this time there was nothing soft about it.
his hand slid up into her hair while hers curled against his jaw, mouths crashing together hot and breathless until neither of them could really tell where one kiss ended and the next began. the room felt overheated with it, tension wound so tight between them river thought he might lose his mind if she pulled away now. but she didn’t. if anything, lily only moved closer, kissing him like she wanted every thought in his head replaced with her.
he groaned against her mouth, the sound swallowed as her fingers tightened against his jaw. his other hand found her waist, palm flat against the curve, fingers digging into the fabric of her shirt like he could anchor himself there. she was heat and pressure and the softest friction, and every inch of his skin felt too tight, like he was burning from the inside out.
river broke the kiss just long enough to drag in a ragged breath, forehead pressed to hers, eyes still closed. "lily," he breathed, and her name came out raw, scraped clean of anything except need. she answered by biting down on his lower lip, not hard enough to break skin but enough to make his hips jerk forward, instinct driving him into the space between her thighs. the air punched out of him. "don't stop," she murmured against his mouth, and it wasn't a request. "not yet." his hand slid from her hair down the back of her neck, tracing the line of her spine through her shirt until he reached the hem. he hesitated—- just a fraction of a second—- and she answered by arching into him, silent permission that made his blood roar.
he lifted the fabric, palm skimming the bare skin of her lower back and she shivered against him. her fingers fisted in his collar and pulled him closer like she wanted to crawl inside his ribs. he broke the kiss again, this time dragging his lips along her jaw, down the column of her throat. he felt her pulse hammering beneath his tongue, fast and erratic and he sucked softly at the hollow just below her ear, making her breath hitch. "i want to hear you," he said, voice rough against her skin. "when i touch you. when i—-" he stopped, teeth grazing her collarbone. "i want to remember every sound." lily's fingers threaded through his hair, tugging sharply. "then make them happen."
he didn't need to be told twice.
