What is the best part about being a delivery driver for Muskoka Brewery? Where is your farthest-away destination?
I like everything! Delivering and traveling all over Ontario is great. Kingston is the longest drive I do and it’s very relaxing. I don’t have to rush.
If you kept a journal of your stories on the road, what would be the craziest?
I see a lot of crazy drivers. You have to make sure to drive carefully. Taxi drivers in Toronto are the worst - you never know with them!
What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I was a delivery driver on a construction site - that job was annoying. If the people you work with aren’t happy, it’s no fun.
What’s on your playlist in the truck while you’re out on deliveries?
We usually put on 98.1 CHFI. - it’s our favourite. Country music is my favourite when I’m driving alone. I can’t remember my favourite song, but Brian [GTA Distribution] knows so many songs and he’s a good singer!
Driving everywhere can be pretty crazy. Does it take a lot of patience to be on the road?
You just have to stay calm. I’m not rushing, I drive safely and I keep a safe distance from other drivers. Safety first!
What is something you wish all Toronto motorists knew?
Patience: there’s no rush. It’s better to get where you’re going safely.
What’s the best bumper sticker you’ve seen?
People have those but I don’t really read them. Some cars have some pretty crazy paint jobs, and around Halloween I see lots of people with the fake hands sticking out of their trunk.
If you had to pick a person on the Muskoka team to trade jobs with for a day, who would it be?
I like my job, so I don’t know if I’d trade with anyone. I’d keep mine! I wouldn’t want to be inside an office.
What beers will we find on standby in the beer fridge at Casa de George?
I like to buy Cream Ale and Craft Lager for my friends and me. I like to drink wine as well, but never too much.
Do you have a special routine while out on the road? Specific drinks or snacks that you need to get through the day?
I like to drink water and I’ll get an XL tea with three creams and two sugars. I will eat cookies as a snack and I always eat a banana and an apple for breakfast.
If you could deliver something other than beer, what would you deliver?
What’s something that not many people know about you?
I’m an open book. I don’t have any secrets! I think sometimes people probably think that I could be mad or upset, but I’m just quiet. Some people don’t know that.
If you could go on vacation tomorrow, where would you go?
I would go to Ghana to visit my family; I miss my mom. I might be going this year. And then after that, maybe I would go to Montreal to see my brother. I’ve always wanted to visit the U.K. to see the Queen - she’s nice.
Who is your favourite Toronto team: Jays, Raptors, Leafs, or TFC?
Raptors and TFC. My favourite Raptor is DeRozan and I like Giovinco from TFC!
Have you ever brewed beer before? What style of beer would you want to create?
I’ve never brewed beer before, but of course I’d love to try! Maybe I’d brew an IPA like Mad Tom.
