people are seriously upset about mike in tdi? that's dumb. as a person with MPD, it's nice to see a character who represents it without going too far or too over the top. And the message given is that people with mental issues can be just as normal as anyone else. I don't see why that's such a big deal.
I don’t know, I guess they found him offensive for their own reasons. I’m sure most (if not all) of them are trying to help, but being nasty and negative rarely inspires people to listen. Off the top of my head, the main two complaints seem to be:
On the official website, Mike was labelled as “The Multiple Personality Disorder” more than once (understandable, people are more than their disorders, of course).
At the end of All-Stars, Mike presses a “reset button” in his head that gets rid of all his alters (kind of implying it’s super easy to get rid of if you just try hard).
So they make some good points, but let their arguments get out of control, to the extent that not many people listen anymore because it’s mostly just spiteful attacks these days. And who wants to hear that?
