Pushing the ONE bag she was holding up alongside the ones he'd started to unload, Winry casually took a bag or two from him and helped put them up; only sitting once they'd finished.

They were off to Central at the request of their grandmother whom had received a call from Alphonse saying that Ed was in the hospital--again--and needed maintanence. Maybe it was her way of getting them out of the house, after all there was little reason for the both of them to go for one maintanence job; maybe she sensed how much the twins missed the Elric brothers and this was her way of helping.

Turning her gaze out the window, the question Winry posed to her brother was a rueful one; and the grin on her lips said as much.

"So how badly do you think Ed messed his automail up this time...?"

Setting the crockpot to the right temperature after having plugged it in, the mechanic separated the portions of food he'd need, grabbing himself a large cutting board and knife to set aside as he made work with washing the vegetables and potatoes. "How's Alphonse doing?"

ed kicks his legs a bit as he watches wes work, eyes following his movements. he glances up upon being asked about al, shrugging slightly in response, “he’s.. y’know.. he’s al.” he smiles softly, thinking after his baby brother, “he’s been hard at work studying alkahestry with mei. he’s making good progress though... at least a think. that’s what mei tells me anyway.”

Arms reluctantly pull away, one hand stuffed into his pocket while the other rubbed at the back of his neck with a bashful grin. "Yea, I'm sure you are," he replied with a chuckle, giving a nod of his head for Edward to follow him into the kitchen. "We've got just the right ingredients to make some stew for tonight, if you're hungry enough for that." Knowing the Elric would never object to a hearty bowl of stew, Wes started retrieving items out of the fridge and turned the crock pot on.

“stew!” ed’s face lights up, a grin stretching from ear to ear, clapping his hands together and rubbing them excitedly, “i’m always down for stew!” he follows wes into the kitchen, pulling himself up onto the counter, finding himself a seat there.

The hug catches him off guard, body frozen for a moment before arms wrap around the other and face is buried against Edward's neck. Oh, had he missed him. So damn much it hurt. But who was he to ask the other to stay when his heart pulled him in so many different directions that settling down like Wes had wasn't exactly an option for the Elric. And over the years, Wesley had come to understand that; but that didn't mean he necessarily liked it. "Yea.. you too," he finally replied.

It’s been so long, way too long, but being back like this, being back in wes’s arms is like being home, more so than even being back in risembol. it was always hard for ed to be away, especially for so long sometimes, but he always came back, it was always what kept him going. he gives wes one last squeeze, nodding as he pulls back, just enough to look at the mechanic’s face, “well i don’t know about you, but i’ve been on the road for a while and i’m starved!”
