so what did you think after finishing it?

it wasn’t bad. i thought i would lke it more than i actually did. and i think my interpretation of it is a little different than what the film’s meaning actually probably was - i get that it was probably meant more for like “happiness can only be found in shedding societal expectations that limit us and instead embracing ourselves fully and creatively” but what i saw was more “how the system fails people with mental illness and why so many people particularly those with psychotic/dissociative disorders end up living on the streets/homeless because of lack of support, isolation, not being medicated or even having access to mental health care, etc.etc. & how quickly that can spiral out of control”

Is it not better to negate that by talking about being who you are yet not being a bad person?

like i guess my thought is......that i should be rebuking that aspect of myself and that not doing so is inherently upholding like imperialism/fascism and that the ppl who know me and that i care abt see that and are. looking down on me for that

also i guess i just feel weird too abt like......american leftists who only ever talk abt How Evil Japan Is which. i see a bit and it just makes me feel Weird bc i feel like u can’t just.......divorce urself from the historical usa treatment of all east asian ppl due to wwii sentiments......and just be like Yeah But The USA Is Evil Too without like. critically thinking abt that and also keeping japanese disapora and mixed race japanese people in mind during these tirades.........

i don’t know i have a headache and im probably starting to dissociate a little from freaking out abt this since sometimes japan identity stuff ties into abuse stuff re my mom for me so like. sorry i’m just a mess right now

yeah there is more of a focus im just too tired to type out and explain the whole thing that is going on. just wanted to know if there was any topic in particular pressing on ppl’s minds is all.

yo what kind of japanese food do japanese people put spam into? (and like are some of them spam-variable at home and not really restaurants?)

all of the ones i know are definitely things you can make at home lol

so my mom puts it in: yakisoba, udon noodles, and ramen

i also know about spam musubi (which is basically like, a square of sticky rice with a thin slice of spam that you pan fry on top, then with seaweed wrapped around it)

that’s all i’ve had personally bc my mom doesn’t rly make a whole lot of japanese dishes (bc internalized racism) but like even just with a quick google search i am finding recipes like. tsukune (japanese meatballs) made with spam instead of the traditional pork and stuff....also adding it in to japanese curry and in fried rice.

i’m sure there is plenty more , and i know that spam is utilized in hawai’ian dishes a lot too which are often partially japanese dishes bc of the huge volume of japanese immigrants who settled in hawai’i
