Hi! Hope your sick day is going okay. I used to get chest colds CONSTANTLY so I have a lot of sympathy for how uncomfortable they can be.
I was wondering if you could tell me more about that game you mentioned - Coral Island? I'm a long time Video Game Enjoyer but pretty new Video Game Player, and I like hearing more about the games that other people love now that I know I can actually figure out a video game without feeling dumb.
(also do you ever find the controls of a newer video game weird to get used to? Is that normal? Part of what kept me from getting into the medium was because it felt like my hands just like can not figure out a lot of controls haha)
Hi! I'm unfortunately rather prone to chest colds and often they turn into more. *fingers crossed* Hopefully this one will blow over in another couple days.
Coral Island is a delightful cozy game! I don't know if you are familiar with Stardew Valley, but Coral Island is very similar, just a lot bigger. In Coral Island your character leaves Pokyo to take over an overgrown farm on Coral Island, an island that has seen better days. The island is dealing with an oil spill, courtesy of the Pufferfish company, and the goddess and spirits that inhabit the island are as unhappy about it as the villagers.
You farm, raise animals, go on quests, and get to know the towns people. There are lots of cuts scenes, and the interactions with the villagers are quite varied. You can go diving and clean up the ocean, mining to help free the spirits of the island. It's really fun and the graphics are beautiful. Very low stakes, but those are the kind of games I like.
I struggle with controls a lot too. This one was a bit jarring because I was used to the controls from Stardew Valley and they're not quite the same, but once you get used to them, they're fairly intuitive. I'm a big fan of low or no-stakes games. My favorites are Stardew Valley, Coral Island, Cult of the Lamb, and Cat Quest (specifically Cat Quest 3, the other two are good, but 3 is the best). Also Unpacking tickled my brain in the best way. I'm stressed enough in my regular life, I don't want the video games I play to stress me out more.
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
