You may not be able to “let it go.” Things You’ll Need Light blue wrapping paper Tape White organza, about 1 yard Glittery blue ribbon Paper snowflakes Craft glue Winter floral pick

Step 1 Wrap your gift box in light blue wrapping paper. Although most stores during the holidays will be primarily stocking paper with seasonal motifs, remember that party stores carry plain wrapping paper in various colors year round. Step 2 Wrap a piece of organza completely around the box, bunching it in the front. Tie a knot with the two ends of the organza – the knotted puffy organza will resemble a bow. Step 3 Perpendicular to the sides you placed the organza, wrap a wide, shiny blue ribbon around the box and tie a knot over the organza. The ribbon pictured in the example is glittery, but you can use any shiny blue ribbon – like satin – if you cannot find ribbon with glitter. Step 4 Using craft glue, attach paper snowflakes to the organza. Slip a few underneath the organza as well. The snowflakes here were made on a die-cutting machine, but you can purchase pre-cut snowflakes in the scrapbook area of your local crafts store, or hand cut them yourself. Step 5 With an additional piece of ribbon, tie a winter-themed floral pick to the organza bow. Floral picks, available in crafts store in the seasonal aisle, are clusters of ornamentation on a wooden or wire pick, readymade for decorating and crafting. Choose a floral pick with silver and blue accents to fit the Frozen theme.

Light up someone’s holiday with this one-of-a-kind gift wrap project. On the lid of the gift box is a paper accordion-fold Christmas tree that actually lights up. It could be the brightest idea of the season.

Things You’ll Need

Two-piece gift box Wrapping paper Battery-operated string of fairy lights Duct tape Cardstock Stapler Hot glue gun Step 1 To create the illuminated tree effect, you will need a two-piece gift box that has a lid. Wrap both pieces separately, like in television shows or movies where the gifts can be easily opened without tearing any paper. Step 2 The light source for this gift wrap is a battery-operated string of Christmas lights. Look for “fairy lights” or “moon lights,” as opposed to regular Christmas lights. Fairy lights are smaller and more easily hidden. If they are not available in your local crafts store, you can find them at online retailers. Duct tape the battery back to the inside of the lid. Punch a hole in the middle of the box and thread the lights through the hole.

Step 3 Cut a 12 inch x 8-inch piece of cardstock and make 1-inch accordion folds. The paper here was creased with a scoring board for exact 1-inch pleats, but you can also eyeball it. Step 4 Staple the top edge of the accordion-folded paper to create a tree shape.

Step 5 Punch small holes in the paper tree with a hole punch and insert the individual fairy lights from the string of lights. There is a set distance between each light on the string, so be sure you do not space your holes farther than that distance. Step 6 Hot glue the tree to the lid, applying glue to the folds so they stick to the box when they make contact. Hot glue a paper star to the top of the tree. Now, because the lid is wrapped separately, you can open the gift box to turn on the lights right before you present your gift.

An old-fashioned brick fireplace with stockings hung by the chimney is a welcome sight during the holidays. This whimsical gift-wrap idea is the perfect way to capture the warmth of a mantel at Christmas. Santa not included.

Things You’ll Need

White wrapping paper Red contact paper Black paper Craft glue Felt Hot glue Bow Step 1 Wrap your gift box in white wrapping paper. Step 2 To make bricks for the fireplace, cut 1 inch x 2 1/2-inch strips of red contact paper. If your box is larger or smaller, you can adjust this size accordingly. You can also use regular red paper, but the contact paper is already adhesive, which saves you the step of applying glue. Step 3 Peel the lining from the contact paper strips. Apply the strips onto the front of the white box. Leave a little white space between each strip, and between each row, to create the brick’s “grout.” The bricks should be staggered every row as well, instead of being lined up perfectly. Wrap the bricks around the sides of the box as well, but you do not need to cover the back. Step 4 Cut a piece of black paper for your firebox opening and glue it to the bottom of the fireplace. Step 5 Cut out stocking shapes from various colors of felt, and cut out collars for the stockings with white felt. Hot glue these above the firebox so it looks like they are hanging on the mantel. Step 6 Cover the back of the box with a piece of red contact paper. Covering the back with more individual red bricks is optional — that could get cumbersome and make your Christmas not so merry. Step 7 To finish off the gift wrap in a festive way, tie a bow to the top. Place the gift box next to the actual fireplace and stockings, and it will be so meta.
