Hi, I dyed my hair using Raspberry Twist by Adore a few months back and it hasn't faded much. I've just recently bought Purple Rage which is also by Adore and I'm wondering if I can just put it on top of the color I have now. Should I just try fading it out more? And my roots show a lot and I'd like to know how I can even everything out. Also, thank you

Hi Hi 

Purple is a pretty good dye at covering other colours and should go fine over pink hair, but you may want to try a strand test. Do you roots show because they are not bleached or because the colour is more vibrant there as the hair is less processed? 

If the first is the case, you need to bleach your roots. If the second is the case, then there’s little you can do, other than looking after the ends of your hair as best you can, and topping up the dye when needed.

I've been having issues with the adore hot pink hair dye. It keeps fading fast. I bleached my hair to a pale blonde and have only had the pink in for about 3 weeks,I've had to recolor it twice in that time. Is there anyway I can slow down the fading?

Hi Hi, 

try some different pinks! Directions flamingo lasts well, and people swear by SFX pinks! It may be that adore just doesnt do a good pink. Different brands do different colours well. 

On saying that here are some things that help colour last! 

-rinse hair in cold water after washing to shock the cuticles closed, or wash in cool water if you can stand it. 

-rinse hair in cider vinegar after dying to balance the PH (or use a PH balanced shampoo) 

-only wash your hair once or twice a week. Its bad for your hair to wash it much more than this anyway, as it strips the natural oils, and if your hair is already bleached then it needs them. 

-if your hair is not bleached, consider a quick bleach bath even if your hair is very light in colour naturally. Virgin hair doesnt hold onto colour well. Alternatively you can use a pre-colour shampoo (colour B4 make one) to help ready your hair for the dye. 

-if your hair is over-bleached or over-processed, it won’t be able to hang onto the colour

-heat fades dye very quickly, so consider using less heat styling. 

-get some cheap conditioner and add some pink dye to it, so every time you condition, your colour is being refreshed (even if you only leave on for three mins)
