Roman and Remus after the splitting or separation of Romulus, don't remember anything from their past or why all these people are looking at them as if it hurts to see them simply exist.
They meet everybody in the minds scape. They learn about Thomas and who they are. The names Remus and Roman were picked out by Logan. A very serious expression on the 8-year-old's face as he told them that those were their names now.
There was one person they hadn't met. The boy with the crown that was in the picture above the flower vase. But when Remus asked Patton about it, he had simply shaken his head and later Deceit had scowled him for making the fatherly trait cry.
They never got their own picture frame. The only picture of the two of them that ever made it onto the wall was a simple Polaroid and it was stuck to the big picture of the boy with the crown with some cheap sticky tape.
Deceit took Remus away eventually. Saying something about how it was better that way and Patton seeming to agree. The freshly created anxiety looking on as he bit his nails.
The one time they had gotten an answer to who the mysterious boy was, it had not made it much clearer;
Roman had gone to Patton his room, having had a nightmare about screaming and an aching emptiness as if he was missing a part of himself.
When he had asked Patton why he couldn't go and see Remus the answer he got wasn't really an answer at all. "Romulus, go back to bed, please. I'm tired too."
When he had asked who Romulus was. Patton had frowned. And the next day Roman got yelled at again for making Patton sad.
He never asked again. Though still, even after deciding that hating his brother would be easier than focusing on that empty hole in his chest and finding out more and more about their past, he never got his memories back. The only thing he could hold on to a picture of a little boy in a crown, smiling brightly at the camera, not knowing how he was days away from destruction.
