I'm rewatching the first two episodes of Heated Rivalry, and something that I still find so odd is a crediting issue, specifically the billing of the regular cast. Why on earth does François Arnaud get top billing, then Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie with second and third billing respectively, despite the fact that those two are the leads of the show? And yes, I'm aware that Arnaud's character will be fleshed out a lot next episode, and also that Arnauld has a longer and more prolific career than Williams and Storrie, but it's still such an odd crediting decision to me
Thank you for crediting the works you post. I follow the wolf tag and it's starting to get flooded (by that I mean more than usual) by not only unsourced theft and misinformed folks but also by very tricksy AI pieces so I really appreciate you!
Of course! As an artist and creator, I understand the importance of giving proper credit (thought really, you don't need to be a creator yourself to get that, just a decent human being 🙄)
And as someone running an informative blog, I take the responsibility of sharing accurate information seriously.
I've been away from Tumblr for a while, but just the other day I came across my first piece of AI-generated wolf content, and it was such a strange moment to realise, "Oh, even in this topic now".
Misinformation can have deadly consequences, wolves’ lives are literally at stake. The thought that AI could fuel even more misinformation about these endangered animals was quite an unsettling realisation.
Anyway, thank you for your kind message and thanks for sticking around, I appreciate you! 💖
so ive been seeing more and more uncredited / poorly credited stimboards in the stim tag and it's been bugging me, so i decided to put together a post about some things i think newer stim blogs should know!
CREDITING:
- DO NOT USE PINTEREST AS A SOURCE. DO NOT EVER USE PINTEREST AS A SOURCE. Pinterest is full of reposted gifs that other people have made (including my own!) that have been posted there without their permission. it's just not a good way to credit people, because you are using stolen gifs. Find your gifs on Tumblr.
- DO NOT USE UNCREDITED STIMBOARDS AS A SOURCE. if you cannot find the gif ANYWHERE ELSE then either use a reverse image search engine like tineye to find the source or use another gif. sometimes posts just disappear and blogs delete and gifs get lost. it's sad but it happens and the next best thing is to figure out what video it was from and gif it yourself.
- DO NOT POST YOUR STIMBOARD BEFORE YOU HAVE CREDITED THE GIFMAKERS. No, you can't say "dm for credit!" or "Lost the sources, sorry, but its too pretty not to post!". Credit your sources. Blogs like mine put effort into making sharable stim gifs for you and we would appreciate a "thank you" in the form of a link back to the post you found the gif from. Otherwise you're just stealing it.
- DO NOT USE ART YOU HAVE NOT MADE FOR THE MIDDLE IMAGE, EVEN IF YOU CREDIT. While gifmakers' content is made to be shared and used in this way, general art is not. the artist will not appreciate their art being stolen. if you have express permission from the artist, then it's fine. but do not presume that Just Crediting Is Enough.
DNI BANNERS:
BE AWARE OF YOUR FONT + COLOR CHOICES AND TEXT SPACING. Certain fonts are harder for people to read and certain color combinations can cause eye strain and headaches, and with smaller banners with long DNI lists sometimes words get cut off or moved and make people read it wrong. Just a bad time all around.
Don't have much advice for this, just don't use bright colors on bright colors, or pastels on pastels and use a plain text font instead of a fancy Aesthetic one.
DO NOT ADD YOUR DNI BANNER TO POSTS THAT ARE NOT YOURS. I can't believe I have to say this but if a post does not originate from your blog, you do not get to add your banner to a post by reblogging it to your blog. That is incredibly rude. What if the person you're reblogging from has different boundaries than you? Be considerate.
BE SPECIFIC. "weirdos / freaks dni" is not good because nobody knows what you're talking about, and also yknow. the word "freak" is ableist and maybe not the best choice of words here. You might as well just not use a banner at all at that point. There's a similar issue to "Basic DNI criteria" because there is no basic DNI criteria. it's different for everyone. List your boundaries plainly and accessibly.
That's about all I can think of for now, but this post may be updated or added onto! Please spread this around!
“I don’t know the artist so I can’t credit them. Dm me if you know.”
It is YOUR responsibility to credit the artist. If you have any respect for the person that made the art that you’re reposting, then YOU should be finding the artist and giving them proper credit.
The amount of people that say stuff like that is insane. It’s not your follower’s job to drop what they’re doing and credit something for you.
If YOU want to use art, then YOU are responsible for finding the artist of that art and giving them proper credit.
And if you don’t know the artist, just don’t use the art. Artists work so hard on their art, it’s unfair and disrespectful to repost it and not credit them.
How would you feel if you worked hard to make something and someone took it, posted it, and never gave you credit for YOUR hard work?
PLEASE
Credit the artists!!! And don’t expect and ask other people to find the artist for you.
And if you can’t find the artist, JUST DON’T POST THE ART AT ALL
I hate ppl who post photos they didn’t take in the bjd tag. Idc if you credit, random-aesthetic-blog123, I will block you, set fires to your crops, and take your first born unless you correctly guess my name. You don’t wanna know what Im willing to do if they don’t credit.
Hi! My name is Sunny and this blog is simply a place I can collect things that make me happy, hiccup the odd poem, and reblog things I see that make me laugh or cry or think.
Crediting: I credit where I can, but my dumpster fire brain chemistry frequently renders me physically incapable of tracking down a source so if you see something uncredited or incorrectly credited and/that you know the correct/source of, please please please feel free to point me in the right direction.
Tagging: I tag everything I can think of, but I realize that is not saying very much. If you follow me and/but need something tagged a specific way to maintain your peace and mental health please please please feel free to let me know, I will oblige without argument.
So I had this post by @chadlesbianjasontodd on my mind while writing, specifically this section:
rex is some kind of special forces officer attached to anakin’s unit, which is why he is able to command the entire 501st but sometimes takes responsibilities down to the level of a sergeant
And I just wanted to make a note publicly that this is why I'm adjusting (some of) my Rex interps a bit, going forward, so I don't forget to credit once the fics actually go up.
This is an excerpt from the fic I'm currently working on, where I apply (a variation of) this concept, centering around how ARC-trained troopers seem to work a little to the left of standard troopers:
They never got a clone commander. Appo could have been promoted, maybe, but everyone’s quietly arranged themselves around Rex instead, and neither Tachi nor Olin ever suggested otherwise.
He’s technically Spec Ops, since he’s an ARC captain instead of a standard. It means his place in the legion’s hierarchy is, technically, just under the General, but it’s meant to be somewhere to the side. Officially, he's commanding just the ARCs and certain specialists instead of the standard troopers, but… well, no commander and a karked command structure means he’s taken on wider responsibilities, even if they all still call him Captain.
