In 2004, on the island of Flores in Southeast Asia, scientists found a (possible) new relative to the genus Homo (that is, humans). They named it Homo floresiensis, or "the man from Flores".

But they nicknamed it "the Hobbit". WAIT, WHY?

Well, the skeleton was only around three feet tall (that's like a meter tall, right?), and it had a cranial capacity of around 380cc it had a tiny brain and skull.
