[[Crib thinks it sounds embarrassingly formal and unnecessary when others (for some reason, usually children) call her 'Miss Crib', but at the same time, she really enjoys the femininity of the title and so doesn't have the heart to tell them 'just crib is alright, thank you'.]]
[[crib gestures with her hands-- or rather, her lighter left hand-- a lot while she's talking. it's one of those things that feels redundant and superfluous to write in rp-- until i have to write that she's stopped doing it, at which point, whoops.
but yeah. she doesn't really sign unless she needs to, but she waves her hand around a bit and tries to use humanish body language to make up for the fact that her face isn't very expressive when talking, no matter how emotive she can make her eyes. it used to be a very conscious thing after she got new limbs, but now she just does it.
she never really picked back up the habit of -always- moving that she used to have as a kid, but her new limbs just don't lend themselves to that as much anyway. so talking is enough outlet]]
clothes
[[i dunno if i've ever said anything to the contrary but crib didn't really start wearing clothes until a few years after laurie took her in. it hadn't really occurred to anybody she might want to, even to crib. even after that, she didn't start wearing them regularly until laurie died and she and TM hoofed it, at which point looking a little more "civilized" (there is a better word for this but i'm spacing) started being important.
she's always had problems with them melting or burning on her, but usually she can at least get away with a skirt and open coat.
pretty much the only reason tm ever wears clothes is because crib thinks they look cute on her, also because tm likes to feel cute. but she also thinks, weather gear excepted, that they're pretty silly and pointless. tm has convinced crib not to bother with them so much when they're away from people, since she doesn't care and crib's {probably more likely to damage them [in a forest or something] anyway.}]]
[[crib doesn't like killing or hurting bugs, even by accident. she'll feel bad about it for a good hour or so if she notices she accidentally stepped or sat on one, even though she realizes it's bound to happen and they're not particularly long-lived anyway. it just makes her feel bad.
when TM was young she threw a handful of spiders into Crib's furnace just to see what would happen to them. Crib stuck her in time-out for an hour and felt sick about them for days.
also crib can't feel much so she won't notice if a bug's on her, and she gets really startled if something gets on her and crawls over her eye. she doesn't mind when she knows they're there, but if they surprise her she makes a really funny (tm thinks so) upset noise.
tm likes bugs a lot 'cause even the big ones are smaller than her, and either they don't give a shit about her or are terrified. she doesn't like ants though. she stepped on an ant hill and it was funny for all of the ten seconds it took for them to find their way into her leg and start biting and dying on the wiring.]]
[[Crib had a higher, much more synthetic-sounding voice as a child, and consciously had to work on lowering and leveling out her voice to the near-human tone it is today. She still "breathes" while talking and everything rings more metallic than it would in a softer body, but if someone who'd met her during the child!anon or from way back when commented on the change, she'd probably deny having made any deliberate adjustments and chalk it up to parts getting broken in.
She's secretly proud of it, though, and unlike her smoke filters, her vocalizer is one of the pieces of herself she refuses to let fall into any shade of disrepair.
When she screams or yells, her voice still goes multi-toned with ugly harmonics, a feature her mom put in to make her more intimidating.]]
