Saturday Stitch! How to join your foundation crochet in the round so you don't have a small gap! It works for all types of foundation crochet because it's all in how you join it! Hope this is helpful for people!
Much like Slinky Dog in Toy Story, his body fundamentally includes a slinky. Using a regular highlighter pen, I wrapped the wire around it to form the body. Then I wrapped the wire around a toothpick to form the tail!
Harry Potter isn’t Harry without his glasses! I used it first on Velma from Scooby Doo using regular paper clips, which are actually pretty difficult to bend.
3) Weapons
Elektra’s Sai! That was fun to make - may do a tutorial on how to use wires to make it later on. I also used similar techniques to make Jon Snow’s sword.
4) Limb support
I used the wires internally for many 4-legged creatures I made - to shore up the limbs for support. Just like Scooby Doo here and Slinky dog above - even though it can’t be seen, the wires are pretty important to keep them standing up.
So there’s that! Even paper clips are useful too you know...
If you considering to get the craft wires, you can try it here...
I have made some miniature hoodies along the way...
The hoodie for the Reaper was adapted from my Kylo Ren pattern - in addition I extended it downwards to form a coat, and left some holes to put his arms through.
Through some trial and error (and some great internet resources!), there are 2 ways I used to make hoods for my Yarnlings:
1) Whip stitch together - rectangular piece in half
I adapted it from this great website with a lot of how-tos with video tutorials! She even did a step by step on how to make the hood with the coat. I first tested it out with Ygritte - I brushed the whole coat vigorously to get the fuzzy effect!
2) Open-ended sphere
Ok so this is my own concoction but it works out for some characters more than others. It essentially starts with a ch 2 then sc3 (to form the pointy end, instead of a magic ring) —> and it increases gradually each round to form an open-ended sphere to fit the head!
As you can see... I tried the sphere method for Kylo Ren but it turned out funny and tried the rectangular method for Luke Cage but he looked like ‘Little Blue Riding Hood’ so... there was quite a bit of unraveling going on.
Using Rhinestones in Crochet - even as mini Infinity Stones!
Incorporating rhinestones into amigurumi
1) Making Thano’s gauntlet
Instead of crocheting the stones into the gauntlet, decided to get some rhinestones to make up the Infinity Stones, just cos they are shiny. Got them at a craft store for only $6.90.
See so many colours! My daughter loves the colours too!
2) Making Dr Strange’s Time Stone
The first piece I made I just used lime green threaded around some wires. Decided to put a green rhinestones to replace it, better?
3) Making Widowmaker’s head piece
I made an Overwatch series, which I have not taken shots of yet. Thought that the red rhinestone would make a lovely addition to Widowmaker’s helmet. The other smaller red spheres are actually thumbtacks!
3) Making Momo’s eyes
Finally, I also used the green rhinestones to make Momo (and Toothless) eyes. Does it look right?
