Well, it happened. Just as I predicted. My insurance company said my meds weren’t necessary and sure enough, I ended up in the hospital. After being bedridden for a month and losing the ability to eat and then finally the ability to hold down water, my hubs took me to the ER. For the first week, I was only being kept alive on IV sugar water and supplements. Then I got a PICC line in and was given TPN (the big white bag which costs $15,000). It took over a week to finally get me the meds I needed and in that time I only ingested water. After I finally got my Remicade, it only took a few days for me to progress through clear liquids to regular food and for most of my secondary symptoms to disappear. Three days later and I got discharged. Not medically necessary, my ass.
