Congratulations to one of our favorite athletes @kentoal Amazing performance at @usa_weightlifting Nationals yesterday! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 I’m bringing home some hardware!!! My lifts were 137x137/142 in the snatch and 166/170/175x in the clean+jerk! Finished 3rd in the snatch, and 5th overall for my highest placing to date! I can’t thank you all enough for the support from far and wide. Thank you @kurtkling for being the best coach and turning me into who I am today! Thank you @griff_decaro for being the best training partner! Thank you @crossfitredzone for always supporting me! Shout Outs!

Hey guys,

We just thought we would take the time to shout out in support of one of our own! Gen Echavarria is running the Cape Cod Ragnar this weekend in honor of those who lost their lives in Sandy Hook. We are sending lots of love and appreciation her way along with countless others who are running for a special cause today. Way to go Gen!!

Updates!

Hey guys, we have a few things to update you on:

- On Saturday we will only be hosting the 9am class with Coach Meg. Kris is auditioning for the National Fitness Pro League in Boston and Gina/Kurt will be competing at a competition so be sure to wish them all luck!

- The Tuesday/Thursday 2:30 class is back! With the gym being big and awesome we can accommodate both the high school teams as well as regular classes so don't be a stranger.

- On May 17th CrossFit Milford is hosting a benefit WOD in honor of 16 year old Jonathan Law Highschool student Maren Sanchez who was stabbed by a fellow student for turning down his prom invitation. We are looking to get a group together to go down and show our support, so if you are interested please speak up!!

Surviving the Opens

We all feel the pressure of the opens. Whether you are signed up or not it is the same feeling you get right before every WOD

The jitters. The weak stomach. The anticipation.  The stress of 3, 2, 1..GO.

It is the need to move but the fear of failing, we all feel it, we all know and understand it. The difference between those who do and those who don't are those who react.

Remember: Its just another workout, in your gym, with your family cheering you on. Nothing more.

Reminders

Hey guys,

Just a few reminders about our new space:

- Please remember to park in the lot across from us, the spaces in front are not for us!

- We will be getting internet soon, so no more terrible music (sorry I only listen to Katy Perry/Depressing Hipster music guys..)

- Our big space is coming along really well! We will reveal it as soon as its done :) WE ARE SO EXCITED!!

Ogar Strong: Pass it on

Hey guys, I just wanted to post about Kevin Ogar, give you his story and the link to his site. From all accoutns he seems to be a stand up guy, and part of our community.. since we saw such an amazing outpouring of love when we needed it I can't think of a better way to say thanks then by passing that love on to someone who really needs it. Here is some info on Kevin:

"On January 12th, 2014 Kevin Ogar’s life changed forever. He suffered a traumatic injury to his spinal cord as a result of a “freak accident” while competing at an event in Orange County, California. At this time, Kevin has no movement below the waist and will be faced with numerous surgeries and a long road ahead for rehabilitation. OGAR Strong is the collaborative effort of a powerful community of people linking arms to support one of our own, Kevin Ogar. It's true that there's a strength in numbers and together we can rally to embrace Kevin and his family as they embark on this challenging life-changing journey."

Judging: Hold yourself accountable

Within the next few weeks we will be having mock-judging to get you all comfortable with both judging other athletes as well as having a judge yourself. This isn't meant to punish you, its meant to hold yourself accountable. Whether intentional or not we have noticed that skipping reps is a growing problem. CrossFit is all about what you make it, so if you haven't been seeing the results you are craving maybe its time to be honest with yourself. Have you been doing the negotiating WOD lately? Okay I know its (insert number of reps here) but if I can do five more I'll move on! I can't be last today, I'll skip (insert exercise here) because I suck at it.

Enough with all the negative talk, its obviously getting you nowhere, and with opens just around the corner its time to hold yourself accountable and give it your all. Let's have a great games season!

Weekend Comptitions, Goals for the New Year.

2014 is here to stay.. crazy I know, but nonetheless it is here and it is time to set your goals for the coming year. As many of you have noticed we cleared off the goals board, a clean slate for a clean new year. SO what are your goals? Whether they are centered around personal, career or health, it is important to be vocal about them, shout them from the roof tops.. let's hold one another accountable to what we hope we can achieve..  even if it scares us (and our goals sure as hell should scare us) they are hopes for the future that cannot be ignored. So Let's raise a toast after all it is Friday night  to our goals.. to the goosebumps that raise on our arms, the elevated heart-rates, the jitters in our stomachs.. The excitement that is the unknown, because we have it in us to succeed..we just have to want it.

***This weekend we have two competitions we are going to with some athletes! If you are free this weekend and want to cheer on your friends here is where we will be!
