Attack on Prime: Alpha Trion

So...Alpha Trion. Let’s talk about him. Sure is known throughout TFP lore as Optimus’ mentor and one of the Thirteen Original Primes. But...his methods are pretty messed up if you take a really hard look at it.
I think @poptimus-prime explained it best with a reblogged post about Alpha Trion knocking Smokescreen out and putting the Omega Key in his body before possibly letting him get captured by the Decepticons, instead of just telling Smokescreen to guard the damn key. Actually, there were quite a few tumblr users who brought up how messed up Alpha Trion’s methods were. Maybe Alpha Trion knew it would turn out fine because the Covenant of Primus can supposedly look into the future. Maybe he was just following future events to ensure Cybertron’s ultimate survival and revival. I think when you have god-like powers you tend to focus more on the bigger picture and the biggest outcome instead of the sufferings of the individual and the present. But according to the TFPWiki page, Alpha Trion did do his best to prevent the war, which ended up happening anyway, so maybe I’m wrong.
So acknowledging this, I can’t help but feel like Optimus would feel some sort of resentment. Sure Optimus cares deeply for Alpha Trion. The Archivist raised Optimus from a young age and took him under his wing, teaching him everything that he knew but...he finds out before he leaves Cybertron that Alpha Trion was one of the Thirteen. I’m even sure that Optimus is aware that he is the reincarnation of the Thirteenth Prime, what with the matrix in his chest and all. So that being said, why in the Pit didn’t Alpha Trion do anything about Cybertron’s caste system? Why didn’t Alpha Trion help out before the situation escalated to Megatron shooting Halogen? Why wasn’t Optimus there in his final moments?
(Optimus tends to shove these thoughts down because there’s not much he can do about it now, especially since in Attack on Prime, he’s not on Cybertron).
But in regards to Attack on Prime, this is actually another reason why Optimus holds a grudge against Grisha Jaeger. He placed an unnecessary burden on Eren, giving him no instructions on how to control his power, and supposedly left, only to find out later that he was eaten by his own son. It’s a reflection of what Alpha Trion did, and he despises it. This is also part of why he was torn about not telling Eren about Megatron’s identity when the titan first came to their world because he’s literally repeating what both Grisha and Alpha Trion were doing: keeping secrets.
But story wise, since I did bring Alpha Trion up a few times, the Survey Corps would no doubt get curious and ask about the Master Archivist. Optimus would give an explanation about who he is, how he found him, and took him to be his student.
“So he’s like your father?” Hanji asks him.
And Optimus hesitates at this, saying “I...suppose so.”
Which does raise some heads, because you’d think that Optimus would remember someone who was his mentor a little more fondly, but...there’s hesitance. And they don’t know why. Hanji knows that this is a huge risk, and even though she has Megatron backed in a corner, she doesn’t know how he’ll respond to the topic. So she asks, “what’s your opinion on Alpha Trion?”
And Hanji and Levi notice anger. Not irritation, not annoyance, anger. Because I think Megatron was always suspicious of Alpha Trion and the knowledge he possessed. Shockwave captured him for a reason. But I don’t think Megatron found out about Alpha Trion’s status as a Prime. Maybe he would assume Alpha Trion would be influencing the system behind the scenes and molding Orion into the Council’s puppet, which wouldn’t be too far off from Megatron’s thinking in the actual show and books. But Megatron’s not going to dive too much into it, because he’s not going to be giving that type of information to humans and just says: “That ‘Master Archivist’ knew more than he was letting on.” before leaving.
But that’s enough for the Survey Corps to start viewing Alpha Trion in a bit of a negative light. Armin has to remind everyone that they still don’t know the entire story and not to jump to any conclusions based on their limited knowledge. But Eren is still pretty impulsive and just bluntly asks about it, throwing Optimus off-guard. He straight up demands to know if Alpha Trion hurt him, and Optimus just has to explain the context of the situation.
“Alpha Trion was my mentor and raised me when I was lost, but...he held many secrets from me. Secrets that may have prevented the war from happening. But there is not much I can do about it now, and he is one with the Allspark.”
And all Eren can be reminded of is his own father and the burden and secrets he kept, and he just hugs Optimus because damn it the titan needs it.
Would Alpha Trion feel remorse for his actions? Maybe. Would Alpha Trion justify his actions via duty? Possibly. I just know that if the Survey Corps were to somehow cross him, they would give him only five minutes to explain his side of the story before deciding whether or not to throw hands with the secret Prime.
(I feel like I should write this out in full or something.)
Also, missed opportunity: Alpha Trion should have said ‘Oh my~!’ since his voice is credited to George Fucking Takei! What the hell was the budget on TFP?!

Midge didn’t tell Jess the whole truth of why the Schneiders bought a place in Stars Hollow. Understandably so. Here’s the real story.
