How....... would you describe this blog? I'm just asking since I've been following for not very long and I've just been wondering what your REALLY doing here. Like, is this a place where guys put a bunch of random stuff you make or is it an aesthetic blog or an experimental blog? What ever it is I'm liking what I'm finding.

we tell ppl we’re an art collective but only because we dont know a better word for it. the most literal way i know how to put it is that we’re a group of ppl who all make stuff together. what the stuff is varies. its been mostly comics for a long time bc theyre easy and we got good at them, but its other stuff too sometimes. one of us has a buncha albums and another one of us has written like pretty extensive just standalone prose shit. rn im tryna use blender and sfm in conjunction to make videos like our comics except lookin like a ps1 cutscene. the only like definitive threads running through ghostfruits are that we make stuff together and the stuff is tight. but i guess its also just like..an energy…?? its just a feeling kinda. its this spice we try and put on stuff. on ourselvesz

i try to think of it like wu-tang i guess… in terms of like….wu was a bunch of dudes with very specific tendencies and mannerisms and frames of reference, for things, they had a real specific method of interacting with the rest of the world. they wanted the world to look a very specific way, have very specific things in it, and so they made the world around them uhh..look like that. idk. whatever vibe it was them niggas was tapped into?? only they could access, and they would pull it out and bottle it and give it to you via like..music or just the way they was dressin or the way they..was talkin, like regular out they mouth, in interviews, and shit??

and so uhh i guess everyone who is or has ever been in ghost has been like…compatible, with whatever uhh, like wack vision we feel like we have for stuff. the things we want to see and have are like, rly specific sometimes, and not getting made by other ppl, so we’re making them. its a vibe we like and wanna try and live in. its a rly specific feeling that we enjoy and try to embody and want to make available to ourselves. uhh and i guess we hoped thru makin it available to th internet wed meet a buncha ppl who wanted to live in that too?? its gone pretty well so far

i have a light fever & i dont know how much sense this made and none of us are ever gonna even make a gesture towards explaining it this literally again so im sorry

Well for the first one, how did he react when you said “do you actually expect a lesbian to write mostly straight characters?” For the second, how did he phrase the question? Was it in a joking friendly way, or a normal real sort of way?

I didn’t actually say “Do you actually expect a lesbian to write mostly straight characters?”, I was actually kind of annoyed because he was asking this knowing the sexualities of 2 of 4 drow characters he knows about (but not really because Varis is bisexual) and I have 10 drow characters.  He does not know about all my drow characters, he doesn’t even know half of them.  Also “Does everyone need to be gay?” is a rude comment to make towards creators, you don’t police their creative choices.

Also, I really don’t think it matters how someone says “Is it because he’s gay?” when asking why someone likes a character they created.  If it’s a joke it’s fucking rude to the creator talking about their own character especially when you know the creator is LGBT, and if it’s serious, which it was, it’s fucking scummy.

Nowadays I am trying to gather up all ideas from past and sort and build up this verse in hopes something more serious will grow out of this: a pet project is a good way of phrasing it, perhaps?

Twitter is generally my go-to place to sort my thoughts and brainstorm and first place where I post my art so uh yeah there will be a lot of deathless stuff here but Tumblr helps with gathering some inspiration and cool aesthetics are helping - hence the tag. Maybe I should be focused on putting all this in one platform but for now this is how it is.

After reading your recent Varis post I have to ask: how old is Varis?

Not very old, around 29.  He left the Underdark at ten and has been on the surface for 19 years.  For reference, in the Menzoberranzan where he was born, most noble children start lessons at the mage school around age 25 and proceed to learn for around 30 years.

A number of the things Varis has done to annoy his family were done when he was a teenager or young child.
