It was a wonderful day in the town with the sun beating down over the residents, people passing by familiar faces and smiling as they went. It was moments like this that she was reminded of why she didn’t mind living there, as most of the time, Eva found the place rather mundane and boring. Few people paid her much attention, which in itself was not an issue as she wasn’t someone who liked the limelight, however it was entirely because she was in the shadow of her twin brother. She loved Lincoln with all her heart, they had been close since they were born and would do anything for one another, but with the path that life was carving out for the Dempsey son, Eva knew that she would never be able to live up to their parents expectations.
Still, she tried her best, reading as many books as she could and expanding her knowledge with the hopes that her parents took more notice. With her father being one of the most esteemed men in the town, many eyes were on the family and yet few people saw her. She could move along the streets without much by way of interactions, allowing her to stroll along with her parasol in one hand to shield her pale skin from the sun, and her books in the other.
“Oh-” Eva was snapped from her thoughts as a tall man bumped into her, causing some of her books to drop to the ground, and as she dropped to grab them, the crowd saw to it that one was kicked across the way. Gathering her skirt to avoid tripping, the blonde began to reach for her books, finding that no one wanted to assist as the rogue book was nudged into the street.
