My personal Parry head canon is that they lowkey SUCK at being traditionally romantic. Like, they probably get anxious being around eachother in public cus they’re all like “ouughh what if someone catches on what if we get found out )):” but their romance is like the most dude-bro relationship ever. No one even bats an eye because that’s just how they’ve always been. Even when they’re alone they SUCK at traditional romantic things like gifts, pet names, affectionate words, etc, but its okay because that’s just how they are yknow? Like it’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just different. They don’t show their love through sappy words, they do it through rough tackles and loud bursts of laughter at nothing. They don’t try to sneakily hold hands in the dark but instead they playfully shove eachother as they walk down the street, wrapping their arms around eachothers shoulders. They do that thing guys do where they randomly jump on eachothers backs or lay on eachother while the other is sitting—but not in the way one would perceive them as a couple. Just rowdy friends messing with eachother. Even though they both know they’re more than that. They’re boyfriends—they love eachother. They just love eachother in their own dumb boy ways. Thats not to say they don’t have their quiet moments. In the privacy of whoevers bedroom they probably cuddle up together and say I love you but they’re BAD at it. Comedically bad. Darrys head is resting on Pauls stomach and they’re laying down about to sleep and Paul awkwardly tries to say, “I love you Darry” and Darry starts to laugh because it’s so out of character and Paul gets all red and embarrassed and is like “I’m serious!” And Darrys like “I know. HONMKK SNHOOOO 🛌🛌🛌🛌💤💤💤” But he loves that Paul said it they’re both just too emotional constipated to take the quiet moments seriously.

Oopsies I rambled a lot more than I thought I did but I just love imagining them as dumb boys especially in the beginning of their relationship because thats EXACTLY what they are. They are stupid stupid boys who love each other in their stupid boy ways. I do think eventually they’d be able to take themselves and the more intimate moments more seriously, but they’re still not really into all that traditional lovey dovey cliche romance stuff.

Them showing love through the way they've always shown it anyway just feels so real to me. Because why should they be traditionally romantic with each other if they've always shown love to each other, even back when they believed they were only in love with each other as friends?

And not being emotionally mature to say things like 'I love you' are so so so right, ugh you get them!! They're a pair of teenage boys who probably don't even take school seriously apart from football, how could they possibly be serious about loving each other? It'd be much too real in their situation.
