We had someone new split recently, and had our usual existential crisis over it.. But honestly, a week or so later, we're still just absolutely mindblown by the fact that he took a good look at a box containing one of our biggest triggers, looked us dead in the eye, and, no exaggeration, said;

"No offense to [the system's] trauma, but like... It's just a box. No matter how I look at it, that's all I can bring myself to feel about it."

Can't believe it only took us nearly 3 decades to split someone with such common sense /lh

(Genuinely, it's a mindset we've tried to adopt, but with little success... This conversation also ended up acting as a shortcut to us feeling certain that he is a new alter bc we've never seen Anyone in here say that and mean it emotionally in this context. They get as far as the intellectual but it tended to stop there 😔)
