╰   ♡   ❝   the   magic   remains   unstable,   it   would   remain   that   our   time   in   the   summer   court   is   not   concluded.   ❞   it's   certainly   not   her   ideal   after   banding   together   with   the   other   high   lieges   to   take   out   the   king   once   and   for   all.   longing   for   the   autumn   court   more   than   she   ever   had   in   the   months   that   they   had   been   away.   however   she   wouldn't   dwell   on   that,   instead   wishing   to   move   forward.   ❝   i   want   to   work   towards   finding   out   how   to   stabilize   the   magic   and   lift   the   barrier   that   is   keeping   us   all   here.   do   what   you   can   and   use   the   resources   available   to   us.   at   the   foremost   no   one   in   autumn   is   to   feel   as   though   we   are   at   unease   in   the   mean   time.   ❞

"apologies," ravi says, his voice more of a mumble than anything. they glance down at themselves, still a little disoriented. he hasn't felt like this in so long, and he considers himself lucky that he didn't fully bump into the other. he blinks slowly, eyes drifting back into focus, the panic finally starting to fade. running on less than two hours of sleep for several days is finally starting to catch up to him, and his anxiety is on high alert. he knows he needs a break, but he refuses to take one. he raises a hand, casting it over his eye and rubbing it slowly, letting his vision swim back to normal. when he speaks again, his voice is back to normal. "i'm not myself. although i suppose none of us are right now, given the circumstances. perhaps it won't be long until we all go insane." he chuckles, then internally winces. "that was crass of me. apologies again."

╰   ♡   the   training   that   gaeul   had   received   from   both   her   parents   and   the   former   high   lord   of   the   autumn   court   had   brought   her   to   the   position   she   was   in.   the   fact   that   her   personal   life   was   a   disaster   but   her   head   remained   focused   on   the   task   that   benefitted   the   autumn   court.   ❝   keep   me   informed   if   the   other   courts   do   find   something   of   use.   there   is   likely   a   chance   that   it   will   take   all   of   the   high   lieges   once   again   to   lift   the   barrier   when   we   do   find   the   solution.   ❞   there   truly   wasn't   a   way   to   know   if   one   court   could   solve   it   or   if   it   would   be   a   combined   effort   once   again.   however   given   the   fact   that   the   barrier   had   been   enacted   by   a   being   that   had   the   same   level   of   abilities   that   the   mother   did   it   would   likely   require   a   lot   to   take   down.

╰   ♡   no   one   would   be   happy   in   that   situation   really.   summer   had   never   been   a   court   that   fae   visited,   making   it   more   than   understandable   that   the   hosting   court   was   not   so   used   to   being   the   host   either.   kris   wasn't   particularly   involved   with   the   summer   court   apart   from   being   the   spoiled   brother   of   the   high   lady.   he   held   no   positions   and   definitely   never   held   the   highest   of   status   in   name   of   the   summer   court.   his   complaint   of   sharing   the   space   immediately   going   to   the   other   like   an   attack   that   he   had   not   meant.   ❝   you'd   have   been   making   the   same   complaint   if   we   were   all   stuck   in   your   court.   none   of   the   courts   have   ever   been   extremely   sociable   with   one   another.   ❞   he   didn't   really   expect   the   other   to   get   that   he   wasn't   asking   them   to   leave,   just   voicing   his   frustration   in   a   crowded   court   that   usually   was   not.   ❝   summer   has   never   been   a   destination   for   fae,   of   course   we   are   going   to   feel   crowded.   ❞

some   part   of   gaeul   had   thought   that   the   magic   wouldn't   have   chosen   her   as   the   high   lady   a   few   years   ago.   getting   that   thought   in   her   head   had   definitely   given   her   a   period   of   which   she   had   been   dumb   and   let   herself   get   into   situations   that   were   unbecoming   of   a   high   lady.   sleeping   around   with   a   number   of   the   fae   that   would   later   be   more   involved   in   her   life.   that   had   been   the   case   with   xavier,   sleeping   with   him   years   prior   and   now   he   was   her   emissary.   it   hadn't   been   the   easiest   to   work   with   him   in   the   beginning,   now   they   were   beginning   to   fix   the   relationship   between   them.   "i   agree,   we   should   be   able   to   put   our   past   behind   us   and   move   forward   as   friends.   i   appreciate   your   honesty,   and   your   advice   that   i   do   not   have   to   shoulder   all   of   this   alone."
