The woods around this place are gorgeous. Real thick, real wild; the kind of place you could just get lost in and not mind because of the beauty. It’s almost easy for her to believe that she really is Dr. Jessica Seaborn out here, the charitable, fun-loving psychiatrist making herself useful at a kid’s summer camp for a few weeks. She’s taken lots of pictures to show Ivy when she gets back home.
It’s a little hard for her to appreciate the serenity of nature when she’s, you know, running for her life.
(Get a job as a camp counselor, they said. Crystal Lake is a wonderful place, they said. It’s totally safe. It will be fun.
This, she decides as she stops to press her back against a tree and hide, trying to suck in the twilight air as quietly as she can after sprinting hundreds of yards, is not fun.)
