Im gonna start with happy duo because I have more for them I think... unfortunately I can't really talk about them without talking about Punz briefly so i'll get it out of the way now if you haven't figured it out Punz has a big fat dumb boy crush on Bad but Bad's already secret third thinged with Skeppy and also thinks Punz is vaguely annoying
Also happy duo is not romantic in this though I do enjoy a little skephalo fanart and fic every now and then. as a treat. but not in crimson song no siree those are platonic best friends who are attached to each other unhealthily
There's this weird subplot with the Eggpire where they're kind of split up into different factions with Skeppy, Bad, and Antfrost on one side and Punz, Hannah, and Ponk on the other. These factions were formed in canon by Punz's hatred for Skeppy (Punz and Hannah are like. best friends in this btw. sorry Punz is here so much I hate him too but he's an integral part of the story I fear)
Now I want to talk about the songs Washington On Your Side and Burn from Hamilton because they are important to happy duo structurally I think
Washington On Your Side has Ponk as Burr, Jefferson as Punz, Hannah as Madison, Halo as Washington, and Skeppy as Hamilton. The first part of the song is pretty self-explanatory, but the second part, the one about them trying to find dirt on Hamilton, actually connects to the story as well!
So a little late into the story, Skeppy starts getting worried about the whole "Take over the city and infect everyone with the virus" shit because he kind of thought it was something Halo would give up on a couple years down the line but they're creating gas bombs and oh shit this is more serious than he thought.
So he starts sending letters to Phil, number 1 hero, basically acting as a double agent for the heroes as he tries to save his friends.
And then Punz finds the letters. He wouldn't have if he wasn't specifically looking for dirt on Skeppy but he finds them and is like "HOOLLLYYY SHIT THIS IS PERFECT" so he tells Halo and Halo is just. so so betrayed. I thought we were friends type shit. And then the virus is like "welp danger to the mission kill that guy" and so Halo traps him in a burning building and it haunts him forever.
Technically Skeppy was like. A little infected but not all that much. The virus only took over like a couple times and all of the times it was to convince Halo to do something. The song Burn takes place directly after Halo finding out about the letters btw.
Saint Bernard is The CS!Halo song btw… specifically the last verse is about happy duo… specifically about Skeppy’s ghost… cs!Skeppy haunts the narrative in the worst way I fear
