Come join our challenge! We’re looking for more people to participate in the CS Hiatus Challenge! Not a big CS creator? That’s okay! Despite our name, anything OUAT is welcome here! It’s a fun, creative way to stay involved with the fandom during the summer hiatus, and we want you to be involved!

Every day (except Saturdays) a new prompt is posted - prompts are either daily (36 hours to complete), weekend (54 hours to complete), or week long. Simply submit your piece before the deadline, and we’ll post it! Creators are given full credit in the piece itself, as well as in the masterlist.

You do not have to submit pieces every day! It’s totally fine if you miss a day, or if a prompt is not particularly inspiring. But remember, it is a challenge! The idea is to push yourself and flex those creative muscles, so try to do as much as you can! No matter how small or elaborate, we’ll love your creations - and so will all of our followers!

Hey guys, participation has been a little lower lately, and I want to people to keep going. Here’s a few things to keep in mind!

You can create anything! Art, fic, poems, edits, whatever you want. All forms of creations are welcome!

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t participated yet, it’s never too late to join! 

If you want to submit something anonymously, you can make a note at the top when you submit it and I’ll take care of it, or you can email me at [email protected].

If you don’t see your submission posted within a two days, send me an ask to let me know!

I want to encourage sticking to the deadlines because its a creative challenge for you, the creators, and it ensures that our consumers have a steady flow of content. But if there’s a past prompt that really tickled you and you want to do it later, you can post it on your own and tag us in it, and we’ll be happy to reblog it and add it to our masterlist!

On your mark, get set, go! This year’s CS Hiatus Challenge is about to start! Below you’ll find some important things to know if you’re interested in participating! Be sure to read through it all, because a lot of things are different from last year.

The first prompt will go live on Friday, May 26th at 6pm.

Scheduling

Sunday, 6pm EST - a weekly prompt is posted. Pieces for this prompt must be turned in the following Sunday by 6pm EST.

Monday - Thursday, 6pm EST - a 24 hour prompt is posted. Pieces should be submitted by 6pm EST the following day.

Friday, 6pm EST - a weekend prompt is posted. Pieces should be submitted by midnight EST on Sunday.

Credit/Anonymity

This year, pieces will not be anonymous for submission. There are pros and cons to anonymity, just as there are to attaching names, and we’ve decided that having tried anonymity last year, we’re going to give the other thing a shot this year. So we will be telling you the name of the writer/artist when we publish the piece. However, we will be putting the name at the end of the piece, to encourage people to enjoy the pieces without being influenced by the identity of the creator. It’s a compromise, right?

Submitting

This part is easy enough. When you’ve finished your piece, go to cshiatuschallenge.tumblr.com/submit, and follow the instructions there to turn in your piece! If you have any questions or problems, you can message me at @owlways-and-forever, or email me at [email protected].

Prompt Types

Last year, each day of the week feature a different type of prompt. That won’t be the case this year, largely because the scheduling is different. I will do my best to mix up the prompt types, however, and I welcome any suggestions you have for prompts, there’s going to be a lot of days to fill!

Hey guys, I know we’re all super busy and its hard to find time, but it’d be great if we could get some more submissions. Right now we’ve only had once piece in the first week. I’ve been putting a lot of time and effort into this to plan it and keep it going, and I’d like to see a little bit more from people. Like I said, I know people have things going on - school, work, exams, etc. I myself am moving apartments this week and haven’t had time to write - and I don’t want anyone to neglect things they need to do, but please consider reblogging the original info post and tagging some authors/artists you know to get more people involved, and if you have a few spare minutes in your day or you need to destress, jot something down or sketch something out!

Rule change!

By request, we are extending the deadline for the daily prompts by 12 hours, so you will now have a day and a half (36 hours) to submit those. The schedule for daily prompts will now be as follows:

Example:

Wednesday, 6pm EST: prompt (CS + soulless) posted Thursday, 6am EST: prompt reblogged Friday, 6am EST: prompt deadline

The deadlines for the weekend and week-long prompts will remain the same (~ midnight on Sundays).

As always, deadlines are somewhat flexible, and if you need an extra hour or so, that’s fine, though please try your best to make the deadline. Thank you!

Part of rebranding and repurposing is having a new name! So here it is!

I was thinking today that once this season is over, I might resurrect things again. Not as a daily, or probably even weekly, set of prompts but more as a central location for creators. You could send in art or fics that you guys create or even just submit things from other creators that you liked. I might even try to organize some smaller challenges, maybe more like network blogs do. Maybe even open this up to be a network style blog?

Idk, what do y’all think? I’d love to hear opinions on how this could be a fun, creative, and useful space within the fandom.
