Ginny had her face nearly buried in the bouquet sitting on the table, judging every single leaf and petal. She didn’t even pay attention before sitting down and had no idea that there was already someone at the table until she heard the other woman clear her throat. “Oh. Sorry, I wanted to look. Did I ruin your afternoon?”

“Professor Singleton!!” Charlie bounced excitedly when he spotted his favorite professor in Elkhorn. “Hi! How’s summer so far?”

Kai crossed his arms as he tried to shrink himself down to the smallest he could be. With his size, however, it was nearly impossible to disappear into the crowd. Kai immediately bristled when he bumped into someone. He turned his head and looked at the person, unaware of his expression. “It’s crowded.”
