Four-lined Silverfish (Ctenolepisma lineata) in my house, June 2018. Silverfish are one of the only organisms able to digest cellulose (the material that makes up plant cell walls) without the aid of microorganisms. They also can live up to 8 years, which is a long time for an insect. A nice silverfish (Ctenolepisma longicaudata) on a old Jean-Henri Fabre’s book I have at home. After taking this image I released it back to... my home! It was rainy and cold outside, so just please, stay and go on chewing some old book’s fragments!
