The Field - 20 Seconds Of Affection
One of the prettiest songs I’ve ever heard.

"No. No..."
Genre: Ambient, Electronic, Experimental Description: “No. No…” might just be the finest song that The Field has released yet. It’s difficult to write about a track that strikes you as viscerally as The Field’s “No. No…” with going into histrionics and trying to break down each tiny moment that makes you clutch your chest. No, instead, I’m just going to let whoever is reading this find out for themselves. “No. No…” is a song that induces a trance-like effect on the listener. Pay attention and you’ll be sucked into The Field’s world. The problem? This is a world where all you ever hear is the word no. Sounds unpleasant, right? Well it isn’t. In fact, this may be one of the most cathartic tracks on this list. See what we have to consider is that the word “no” is not in and of itself bad and across the nine-minute length of the track, we seem to hear many different kinds of “no’s,” even if they are all utilizing the same sample. When I listen, I hear “no, don’t go” as often as I hear “oh no, what is happening to me?” and “no, just a few minutes longer, come back to bed.” This song may not seem romantic on first listen, but give it time and attention and it will find a way of wrapping itself around your heart. Whether it squeezes you to life or towards death is something that cannot be predicted. It changes just about every time I listen.
