Asexual Awareness Week continues!

As you may know, we asexuals often wear black rings on our right middle fingers to identify ourselves. Many people prefer a plain band, but some opt for gemstones set in black metal or something similarly fancy. Until very recently, I engraved the ace spectrum rings I sell with a simple spade or heart and previously only offered the ace and demi flags.

I finally got around to adding the other card suits to my shop. I never really see anything other than the spade, but all of the card suits do have different meanings for asexuals!

♤: asexual & aromantic

◇: demisexual and/or asexual & demiromantic

♧: grey asexual and/or asexual & grey romantic

♡: asexual and alloromantic

My information comes from AVEN's website as well as various online sources (most if not all cite AVEN, though). To my knowledge, these symbols are not coopting the aromantic spectrum and only serve to show an asexual person's level of romantic orientation. Aromantic rings are actually typically white.

So, *Seinfeld voice* what's the deal with the card suits? It's actually quite simple! "Asexual" is often shortened to "ace," like a playing card. We adopted the spade as our symbol because of this nickname (as in "ace of spades"), and the other card suits were adopted by other orientations falling under the ace umbrella.

The asexual flag is available as a spade or heart. The demisexual flag is available as a diamond or heart. The heart was my old option, so I have kept that. The grey ace flag is available as a club. These are only my default options. Any other combination is possible, though, since all of my rings are made to order.

Another post before Asexual Awareness Week ends!

Many of us aces like to identify ourselves by wearing a black band on our right middle fingers, which is super great for me since I mostly make rings, but not everyone likes rings. Fear not, I also make bracelets and keychains! I'm not planning on featuring my ace bracelets this week since I post them fairly frequently, but I am sharing my ace spectrum keychains!

I have offered the spade/ace flag since the beginning. I've also always offered the demi flag, but I've updated the design to include the diamond. The demi flag is displayed vertically rather than horizontally since I think it looks better that way because of the triangle (naturally my orientation comes with one of the fussier flags 😂). The grey ace flag is brand new and features a club.

I've always loved these keychain designs. Engraved on 1.5" x .875" (38mm x 23mm) aluminum dog tags, the symbols are outlined and left reflective, while the remaining surface is etched off and inked with pride flag colors. The tags are then sealed with epoxy resin mixed with extremely fine sparkle powder from @solarcolordust, corresponding with the stripe colors. The ace spectrum flags are only purple and shades of grey, so I only use purple and white glitter for them (I prefer the purple glitter on black as well since the white gets too overwhelming on such a dark surface), but you can see the difference in the photos.

The card suits do have meanings (♤: asexual & aromantic , ◇: demisexual and/or asexual & demiromantic, ♧: grey asexual and/or asexual & grey romantic

♡: asexual and alloromantic), but you can of course request any symbol you like on a custom dogtag.

The options don't stop there! These dogtags can be used as keychains, but you can also include a 28" stainless steel ball chain so you can wear them as pendants. The chain can be cut upon request.
