Stiffeners - A New Technique

This is something new I’m testing and it looks like it is going to work. The EVA wings need to remain the same curved shape in both open and closed position. I’ve been worrying that the foam is too flimsy. The white strips are 1/16″ styrene fastened to the foam when flat using barge (contact cement). I heat formed the shape afterwards and its holding really well. 

You can also take a look at the hinge mech. I will make some dimensional adjustments on the final if all works out, but I have to figure out how the lift mechanism can get enough leverage before finalizing.
