Bathroom Decorating Ideas
By far, one of the most neglected spaces in the home (design-wise) is the bathroom. This sort of makes sense considering there generally isn’t any need to go furniture shopping for a bathroom. In terms of functionality, everything a bathroom needs is in there already! But what about in terms of looks? An empty room with nothing but a sink and a toilet in it hardly qualifies as a comfortable space. At Outrageous Interiors, we’ve got what you need to take your bathroom from a bare bones W.C. to a luxury lavatory.
Two-piece bathrooms could usually use a little something to help them look bigger. Hanging a mirror in room to create the illusion of space is the oldest trick in the book yet few people think to try it in their half baths. Truthfully, hanging anything behind the toilet, mirror or otherwise, will balance the toilet against the sink and make the room look larger and more complete. Because there’s likely little floor space in a small bathroom, you’ve got to think vertical in terms of décor. Wall mounted mirrors, artwork, shelves and sconces are all fantastic small bathroom decoration options. Playing with print and texture inside your small bathroom spaces is another way to create the appearance of space.
Little powder rooms aren’t the only baths in need of interior attention. Three-piece and four-piece bathrooms are frequently just as neglected. The shower curtain is an obvious place to work in some bathroom flair but why stop there? Where there’s a tub, there’s relaxation to be had. And when you want to relax, you want a room that’s relaxing. The first thing that you’ll have to change to make a stress-free bathroom is the lighting. Overhead lighting is much harsher than lamp light. If you have room on your counter, you can plug a small lamp into one of your over-the-sink outlets. The change in light should have you feeling the calm immediately. For the bathtub, candles are like de-stressors and accessories all in one and they look gorgeous lined up along a stand-alone tub.
For large bathrooms, we love the idea of putting a chair by the tub or the counters. It’s definitely a glam look but what’s more glamorous than long showers and lingering bubble baths? Sometimes a cushy chair and a fluffy rug are all you need to turn the room where you do your daily and nightly grooming routines into your very own home spa.
