Tala & Axel- Braiding
Axel found himself in Tala’s room, the little tiefling was sick. Elowen asked him to take care of her while she and Riven went to the doctor. She was stuck in bed sleeping, with a pitiful look on her face. Tala started squirming around in a cold sweat, Axel felt her forehead when she stopped moving. She had a fever. It wasn’t there before. Axel quickly went downstairs, filled a bowl with water, and got a couple of hand towels. He sat there for a few minutes, when a realization hit, Axel had no idea how to take care of a child. He could most certainly try though.
Tala woke up feeling nauseous, and she could feel pain in her stomach. She started to cry, Axel asked what was wrong. “My tummy hurts. I feel food coming up.”, Tals said quietly, Axel went to look for something for her to throw up in. He eventually found a bucket, but when he got back to her room Tala had already thrown up on the floor. He cleaned it up, put the bucket next to her bed, and rubbed her back as more crying ensued. Tala tried climbing into his lap, but before she could succeed, Axel put her back into bed. The four year old looked a little sad, Axel assumed it was because she was sick and didn’t put any more thought into it.
Tala laid in bed with a wet towel on her head, she felt really tired. Axel was fixing food that would be easy on her stomach. She didn’t feel hungry, so he set it aside on the bedside table for later. Tala asked Axel to tell stories about old adventures, which she was easily engrossed in. Tala ate her food while the high elf told one last story. “Can I braid your hair?”, Tala asked before yawning.
“You need to rest, Tala.”, Axel replied, getting ready to put another towel on the tiny tielfing’s head. “Pleeease”, she dragged out the word, “I want to practice.”she whined. Both of them were persistent in their minibattle of arguments, but Tals won in the end.
Axel sat on her bed and took his hair down, Tala crawled over to him. Her tail flicked side to side in excitement, she just had to reach the top of his head. She’d overcome this, Axel felt multiple tugs on his hair. He asked if everything was alright when Tals gave up. “Too tall.”, she sighed in defeat, there was a small sense of pity he felt when he looked at her. “It could be a low braid.”, the blonde elf suggested. Tala shook her head and reached as high as she could. “Oh, let me get a ribbon first.”, Tala said, getting up, but Axel told her no and he would get it for her.
Axel sat down after handing a ribbon to Tala, she thanked him as she divided his long hair into three sections. She started asking him questions about what her dad was like, how her parents met, and other similar things. Axel was happy to answer her questions, she ended up laughing at how Riven acted around Elowen when they had a crush on her. A few minutes passed by as Tala tied the ribbon neatly into a bow so the braid would hold. “And done!”, she said excitedly. Axel looked at it,”It's very nice. I appreciate it.”
“Nnooo, you need to go look in a mirror first before you can say anything!”Tala said with a whiny-angry tone and pout on her face. He stood up and walked into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Axel came back into her bedroom,”It’s lovely, thank you.”He said with a smile.
The young tiefling smiled back, giggling, tailing swaying as she yawned again. She started to have a coughing, it sounded like the type that the chest would hurt afterwards. Axel walked over to Tala and just rubbed her back until the coughing stopped. Tala held her chest for a moment and held Axel’s arm.
Her eyes were super heavy, and she crawled onto Axel’s lap. “Thank you, uncle Axel.”, Tala said as her eyes closed. His eyes widened slightly, he wasn’t expecting her to do that. He tried shaking her lightly, but she didn’t wake up. Holding her, Axel realized how small Tala was in his lap. He shifted her around a bit and wrapped her up in her blanket. Axel sat cross-legged, eventually falling asleep as well.
---Bonus Scene---
Riven and Elowen got back from the doctor. “Axel, we're back! Sorry we took longer than expected, we had to get medicine for Tals!”Riven called out, walking into the kitchen, but didn't see him.
“He's probably upstairs taking care of Tals.”, Elowen said, leading them to the stairs. They walked into the bedroom to be greeted by the sight of Axel with a loose braid over his left shoulder, cross-legged, and sleeping with his back against the wall. Tala was wrapped in her blanket, sleeping, and being cradled by Axel.
Riven commented on how cute they thought the scene was. Elowen smiled walking into the room and setting the medicine on the bedside table. “Cmon’, Riv, we have to work today.”, she said as she led her spouse away.
- Ông: Dù cho có kiếp sau hay kiếp sau nữa em hóa thành gì thì anh vẫn nhận ra em, vẫn tìm ra được em. Hãy đi bên anh trọn đời em nhé! - Bà: Haha sến sẩm quá ông ơi! Đi theo hai cụ khắp nơi, suốt buổi sáng mà tự nhiên thấy hạnh phúc. 50 năm ngày cưới mà hai cụ vẫn đẹp đôi, vẫn tươi cười, vẫn nhí nhảnh. — - Old man: Even in an afterworld, no matter what you would turn into, I will still recognize you and find you. Be with me forever, honey! - Old lady: Haha, how cheesy you are, man! Following them in the whole morning to all places, I feel delighted. The 50th wedding anniversary, they still make a perfect match, still smile broadly and are just as playful as they were 50 years ago.
Meet Lulu and Harvey. Two lone rats, who found love and company with each other. Lulu had recently lost her sister, while Harvey was a lone male transferred to the Rescue from the Brampton SPCA (along with 13 others) who had been part of a seizure. After being neutered and many attempts to introduce Harvey to other rats, we decided what Harvey really needed, were some girlfriends.
After just 2 weeks, Harvey and Lulu are now like two peas in a pod: inseparable.
Rats are extremely social beings. And just like us, they really need a friend. We just have to help them find the right one :)

Dr. Paul N. Nator: Would Billy Bee kindly join me in Examination Room B?
Billy Bee: Yes Dr. Nator.
Paul N.: So what brings you to my office?
Billy: Actually my wings.
Paul N.: No, I mean why did you make an appointment with me?
Billy: Well you’re a top allergist and I think I have allergies.
Paul N.: Why do you believe that you have allergies?
Billy: When I get close to pollen, I break out in hives.
Paul N.: Do you have any other symptoms?
Billy: Sometimes I sneeze and sometimes my antennae get itchy.
Paul N.: I will have to test you for various allergies by administering a scratch test. Basically, there will be several vials of different pollens which I will scratch onto your abdomen. If any of the affected areas turn red, there is a strong probability that you are allergic to that pollen. I cannot say one hundred per cent because sometimes there are false positives for different reasons. Before I administer the test, do you think you have any allergies to animals?
Billy: I haven’t been close to all animals but I haven’t had any reactions to the animals I’ve encountered.
Paul N.: Well just to be cautious, I’ll include horse, dog and cat dander.
Billy: Doc, what are all those vials?
Paul N.: Four of them are different grasses, another four are different trees, another six are different flowers or weeds including ragweed which is the culprit for many of my patients, and the last three are dog, cat and horse dander.
Billy: Doc, that’s seventeen vials. Are you sure it’s okay to scratch me with all of them?
Paul N.: I have been doing this since you were a little buzzer. Everything will be fine.
Billy: How will you do these scratch tests?
Paul N.: I’m going to dip your stinger into each vial separately and scratch your abdomen.
Billy: Won’t my stinger have all the pollen on it that way?
Paul N.: No, I will sterilize your stinger with alcohol after each scratch.
Billy: Doc, is it going to hurt?
Paul N.: It will only sting for a split second at the time of the scratch.
Billy: Can I suck on a honey candy while you do the scratching?
Paul N.: Yes, here you go.
Billy: Doc, why is nothing happening?
Paul N.: We have to wait fifteen or twenty minutes before we see a reaction if there is any.
Billy: Doc, two of the scratches are red and super itchy.
Paul N.: Based on the testing, you are highly allergic to roses and moderately allergic to lavender. In the meantime, I’ll put calamine lotion on the two affected areas to reduce the itching and swelling and eliminate the redness.
Billy: What should I do from here on?
Paul N.: The most important thing right now is to avoid roses and lavender. Avoidance is the number one treatment for most allergies. If you wish, you can schedule further appointments with me to get allergy shots. Each needle will contain a weakened form of the allergen. This is done so that your body can build up an immunity or tolerance instead of leading to anaphylactic shock.
Billy: How often do I get these shots?
Paul N.: The recommended course is every two weeks for one year. However, since you have two allergens, it means a total time of two years. There is no guarantee that the allergy will be reduced or eliminated but there is a good chance it will help substantially. The only thing is that you have to make the commitment because if you miss any of your two week injections, you will have to start again from scratch.
Billy: I have to ask my female boss for permission to take time off. Hopefully, she will understand. Even though I’m a busy bee, I really want to feel better. When can we start?
Paul N.: I can give you the first injection today.
Billy: Are there any side effects?
Paul N.: You might feel light-headed and hear a buzzing sound but that should pass after about ten minutes.
Billy: Thanks Doc. I think I’m going to bee all right.
Baked with a Kiss - 2022
Needed to relax this afternoon, it was a stressful week. UPtv had this cute movie on the schedule and I sat down to give it a watch. Although second tier production value with actors I'd never seen before, I liked it. I can recommend it as a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours down time.
A bakery owner is signed up for a chance to cater a charity event by her co-worker. She winds up being excited about the chance and thinks she has a shot at winning the job. She bakes mostly her grandmothers' recipes and theirs's a legend that they're magic. Each has a cute name describing what they're supposed to do. A customer request Winning Pie and get a promotion at work.
She meets an event planner, a workaholic, and thinks the pie she gave him made him enamored of her. He's on the event planning committee and of course there's a conflict-of-interest problem. It turns out a bit different than you'd think but there is a happy ending.
