hello everyone it is time for my favourite shitpost comics i've ever made

originally the main antagonist of Shattered Worlds was Shadowy, a parallel to Mephiles in a similar way to Chrome being a parallel to Silver. he stole the Phoenix Orb that Chrome was supposed to be guardian of, ran amok with it, and then got exploded. the shards of the orb would've been scattered throughout the Shattered Worlds, but Shadowy himself would've been still clinging to live in the nullspace between worlds

(as a side note, you would not believe how hard i lost my shit when i played Forces and found out the Phantom Ruby warps reality and can access a dimension called Nullspace)

anyway. none of that matters. what does matter is that shadowy may not be actually canon to CV outside of the limbo of Early Installment Weirdness but he is extremely fun to draw and his voice is now permanently rtfd mephiles

real time fandub sonic 06 is full of good quotes to draw guys to and also permanently altered my personality. man i should rewatch it, i drew this when it came out i think

in which chrome gets bullied

Chrome's initial concept back in 2013 Shattered Worlds (the previous version of CV) was they were a parallel to Silver (not quite an AU version, but with a lot of intentional visual similarities and powers) and attempted guardian of a power stone with the power to warp reality. except things went horribly wrong and they were scrambling around trying to fix things before they went from bad to worse. they would've had to team up with King to.. mixed results.. because King is not the easiest person to get along with. at all.

later SW would get entirely scrapped asides from Early Installment Weirdness, and Chrome ended up being pretty instrumental in that. so hey, they're still around somehow!

an old memory i have is of silver's "I can't grab lasers with my psychokinesis!" voice line getting ridiculed a lot so uhhh. King yells at Chrome about it. yea

Chasing Disaster is a fun arc for everybody and nobody gets traumatized!

Tails is coming off the heels of Colours (where he'd been brainwashed and halfway roboticized) when Sonic gets kidnapped and presumed dead in the lead-up to Forces, and he... takes it poorly! Infinite sends him into an extended breakdown by using illusions to mess with his head, and while he's able to hold his own against fake Chaos, seeing Sonic alive and well... well, that can't possibly be real, can it?

meanwhile, Rags has just ended up in a city under siege and has lost track of both his older self and the two Tailses he'd been running through time with, so he's glad to see a familiar face! ...and then the familiar face tries to blast him, screams at him, and runs away. um. the situation may be more complicated than he first thought.

on the other end of the spectrum of "what Aile has to put up with"...

this is a pretty vital scene, and one that i've been struggling to figure out how to tell. i wrote an incomplete ficlet, struggled with it a lot, and then drew this as a companion to that.

the tl;dr is that Aile joins up with what would later become Team Comeback (Double, Copy, and Vent) while on the run from Eggman after being partially roboticized. it takes him a bit to warm up to everybody, but Vent's good at breaking through his barriers and getting him to relax and think things were gonna turn out okay.

and then Vent has to go all-out with no heads-up, and suddenly Aile's very aware that his new best friend was secretly a killer robot just like what he'd nearly been turned into. he takes it poorly, there's a big fight, and later Vent sits down and has a complicated talk about what he is, why he hides it, and how he doesn't mean Aile any harm.

it's a really big milestone for the, but it's... hard. finding the right way to convey the right emotions is tough, especially with how clumsy these two are about their feelings, so i'm probably gonna come back to this.

experiment with panel layouts turned into plot stuff! aaog

near the end of Forces, someone new gets dragged back to the Resistance HQ: Dr. Brenlo, a member of GUN's R&D that vanished not long before Vent was discovered in a wrecked Eggman base. he quickly owes up to his role in everything - he changed sides to the Eggman Empire early on and helped design and create a superweapon capable of ending the Resistance once and for all.

of course, things went wrong, and the superweapon - a highly advanced android made using data from Neo Metal Sonic and Emerl, capable of shapeshifting, copying weaponry, and improvising tactics on the fly to adapt to any situation - activated early and nearly killed him. Brenlo was able to escape, and has been on the run from the Eggman Empire ever since. now that the superweapon's in the hands of the Resistance, though, Brenlo has come to them with a warning: it may be on their side for now, but how long until it drops the facade and rips them apart from the inside?

with the Resistance slowly losing trust in him, Vent's in a difficult spot. Brenlo's story fills in the gaps in his memory, but he still feels like there's something missing. the question is if he'll be able to find that missing link in time, and how much of it has to do with Aile.
