Hot take: I like when an ID based off of an existing character greatly veers off personality-wise from the original. Mirror Worlds are used to elucidate more about the Sinners and lore, and to me, giving an ID to a Sinner that on the surface doesn't seem to fit but rather has something else in common (which would then reveal more about both) is much more interesting to me than just having, say, Meursault as Jia Qiu or Heathcliff as Lei Heng, just because their demeanors happen to match

Hot take - I've always been at odds with the fanon of transfem Sinclair (and how the only alternative I've seen is transmasc) because it's something people argue is very strongly present in his text which makes it "basically canon"...but his text is very heavily focused on androgyny, not femininity. Sinclair is very much focused on breaking free of the binary concepts that society has constructed which includes finding a balance between the subconscious female anima and the conscious male self and to me that lends itself way better to something more fluid and nuanced and non-binary. I feel like entirely dismissing how Sinclair wants to find balance to instead say that he wants to entirely become the female inner self is like saying Sinclair wants to completely abandon the world of darkness to be entirely light. As an intermediary step perhaps, where Sinclair then learns that he doesn't fully belong in either realm and that he needs to make a third path, but no one frames it like that, it's always an absolute end goal.

Also because Hong "boys are mud and girls are pure water and I hate how dirty I am I'd do anything to be pure like a girl" Lu exists. I also find it hard to squint to make specifically a transfem reading of Sinclair work when DotRC is as subtle as a sledgehammer when it comes to how much the main character does not want to be a man.

Uh, hot take i guess

Meursault needs to stop stealing people’s IDs.

Kim feels like a better parallel to Yi Sang, being that they hail both from S-Corp, and have a certain finesse to language. Though, Bladesang was likely released as an ID before they thought they were gonna do a BL intervallo.

Rhino Gregor has been, TO THIS VERY DAY, teased as an ID on the official limbus website. Meursault probably stole it from him.

Camille’s very over-the-top sociability feels like it would better fit Rodion (and hey, wouldn’t be the first time they put Rodion in a twink’s place.) And I suppose it would be also a bit fitting as Camille’s boss fight in the Canto 7 dungeon has him listed as “Budding Cinq West Fixer” rather than by name, which feels like they were trying to call him not special.

Why did we even get a Lei Heng ID? He has barely any more plot relevance than Wang Ren. He showed up to kick our ass and leave. Though, I suppose he was going to get an ID anyways… but why Meursault? Lei Heng was very explosive with his character, accent and all, and meursault always struck me as a more muted background character. I feel like Lei Heng would fit Heathcliff or Gregor better in that regard.

I can’t find anyone better for Cassette Tape so I’ll let him have that. Otherwise, just damn. The less in sync the character is with meursault, the more powerful the ID is, I guess.

I kinda already said most of my hot takes already, but I guess one is that people in the fandom tend to seriously mischaracterize Outis and reduce her to nothing more than an “irritable bootlicker, that’ll totally betray us later lmao”. Really glad nocturnal sweeping pretty much cleared up the latter half of that sentiment. Outis’ isn’t just doing that for brownie points, and if you know anything about the Odyssey, is that one of its main themes is that Odysseus is constantly being tested while at the same time testing others, her “bootlicking behavior” is simultaneously a test for the LCB and especially Dante for how qualified they are as a leader as well as serving as a front for her true emotions, and in nocturnal sweeping she was the one being tested of her skills and loyalty to the group and I would say she passed that test with flying colors. Basically, what I’m saying is that the reactions of Dante and the rest of the sinners thinking Outis would so easily betray them in NS are a reflection of what the community thought of Outis too and she proved everyone wrong.

Does this count as a hot take. Hot take or not I am tired of seeing Don drawn with way biggers tits or ass than she has in the canon. Why do I see Don like this more often than the other characters? If you want to draw big tits why not draw Faust or Rodya?

Queequeg transcends the rankings, she is a perfect being crafted by the gods themselves, and she's also really pretty

Starbuck: 6/10, he's fine but he's partially responsible for annoying white girls who have horribly specific coffee orders

Stubb: 4/10, he's boring

Pip doesn't deserve a ranking, i hate him with a passion and he should of died in the ocean Stubb left him in. I just hate kids and landlords.

(CWHT if thats still going) Ishqueg not being kept canon was a major fumble. also I will not be hearing people say they were just friends. Pick up Moby Dick, read chapters 4, 10 and 11. They kissed and married and cuddled, Ishmael refers to [herself] as Queequeg's wife multiple times. I willndie on this hill.
